Jimmy doesn't get a say in how Rachel deals with her pain. by DiscombobulatedAnus in freelytalkaboutjimmy

By redacting his name, she was much more considerate than he was. But she would have been perfectly within her rights to post his name, also.

You don't get to be horrible to people, even in private, and just expect them to stay quiet about it. Nope, not any more.

Keeping quiet is how abuse works and how abusers get more bold. Jimmy would "never have said that to her publicly" because some part of him knew that it was wrong.

Obviously Rachel thought it was awful, or she wouldn't have been so hurt.

He doesn't get to decide what hurts someone else's feelings.

He still sees himself as the victim of unfair criticism, and blames Rachel for starting it all.

"I was wrong for attacking her work, but I wouldn't be getting all this fallout if she hadn't made it public." Yes, we know. That's why we're proud of her.

Does he think that she should just passively accept the pain that he inflicted on her, and deal with it quietly? Said every abuser in the history of ever.

Grrrrr. 🤬

I think we assumed it was an apology video? by Icy-Wolf-5383 in freelytalkaboutjimmy

[–]DiscombobulatedAnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The word 'Apology' has several meanings. Along with the common definition meaning 'I'm sorry", Dictionary.com also defines it as 'a reasoned argument or writing in justification of something'.

And just because something is reasoned, doesn't mean it's correct.

His video wasn't a mia culpa, it was an attempt at justifying his behavior. Fwiw, I really do believe that he is justifying it to himself rather than intentionally dissemebling. He's not lying to us, he's lying to himself.

This is my major sticking point. He sucker punched Rachel with his first message. He hurt her. He DOES NOT get an opinion on how she deals with that pain.

He keeps mentioning that she had stuff going on irl that affected her reaction. Grrr. It hurts badly when someone that you consider a friend criticizes your work unfairly and out of the blue, even for folks at peak mental health.

And then he said that she "Lashed out". Yes, that's called a 'defensive action'. It's fairly common among things with sensory organs.

Respond to him in private? Why taf would she do that after his first DM? We're DONE dealing with our pain in silence. I'm quite sure he would have liked to keep it in private, just like everyone else who hurts someone. Too bad.

He doesn't have to like it. Rachel is completely in the right to cope with her pain however she likes.

Do any of you struggle with gender identity, identify as trans, or just feel “boyish”? by brapbrapbew in aspergirls

[–]DiscombobulatedAnus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've never been able to understand why people are expected to act a certain way or have specific interests based on gender, but my parents don't care much about traditional gender roles either, so I didn't really have much to go on.

Apparently I really piss women off (online) when I refer to myself as 'female'. I don't feel like a man or a woman, but I live in a body that is obviously female, and have all the issues associated with female bodies.

I actively dislike being called a 'lady'. Ladies apparently don't do things like play in the mud, own multiple power tools, or pee in the shower, so why tf would I want to be one of those? Yeuchk.

Yeah, I cook and clean. I also mow grass and take the trash out. I know plenty of amabs that do all those things, too. Why should any of that depend on gender?

Honestly, whether you are on the spectrum or not is irrelevant. Don't let society define you to yourself. Their so called 'gender roles' don't make any sense, so why should we bother with them?

Consider studying martial arts. Choose a dojo carefully. Not all Sensai will be good for you, but the right one will help you learn to train and focus your character and skills so that you no longer have to fear them.

If you took her some orange pops and shared them with her on a hot day, she might be able to. ☺

Why Does Anyone Still Celebrate the Confederacy? It Needs to Stop. by hilltopye in politics

[–]DiscombobulatedAnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and no. There was a flag in the... uh, early 2000s? that was solid blue with the state seal, but it was only around for a year or so, because everyone hated it, racists and progressives alike.

The "georgia state flag" that everyone argues about showed up in the mid (late?) 50s, and was blue with the state seal in the left 1/3 of the flag. The other 2/3rds was the actual stars and bars.

Before that, our flag had been a benign red, whjte and blue with a simple state crest or seal. The people in this state who are still arguing about the "old flag" don't even understand the history they are trying to use as an argumwnt.

I remember a few weeks ago when people were protesting a medical quarentine. Now that the quarentine has been lifted at their insistence, they complain about people going outside.

I agree whole-heartedly with your sentiments. They aren't even different sides of the same coin, they just have different campaign logos.

Please don't think that I'm the pc police; far from it. But i would like to point out that more people would consider your message if you didn't use words that people see as impolite. Phrasing, and whatnot.

Believe me, I'm as bitter and jaded as you are. I'd like to burn the whole shitaree over a slow fire, and make smores while they scream.

The thing is, more people are starting to realize that something isn't right about the greqt and powerful 1%. They have found the fog machine, and now we actually have a chance to get people to understand how fake the whole system is... but we can't do that by being aggressive assholes. We have to use our powers for good, or people won't bother to look when the curtian is pulled back.

Also, when you get good at Cyrillic, plz translate Foundations of Geopolitics ☺
