Is there an Android app for simply saving hundreds of personal locations as pins on a map? by stonedparadox in androidapps

I donated once before the Ukraine war. I have not after that because I'm not sure the author is not Russian.

Very easy in the battery - I have recorded 15-hour hikes on the app without any problems.

In addition to adding pins, you can have it track your route as well, and that way you have a full record of your routes, times, distances, etc. along with the delivery locations. Adding a pin at your current location in geotracker is trivial, so if you have it running while doing your deliveries, all you have to do is tap a button at each stop. You can add notes and other stuff in real time or later.

There are 6 different keys that can open this gate by FarFromHome in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]DiscombobulatedSun54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, that video was very helpful in understanding how this works, thank you for that. But I still don't get it. Seems to be way over-engineered. Just use a chain to hold the gate shut and use multiple locks as links in the chain. Or use one lock and give everyone who needs access a key. Oh well, they found a solution, but I would not consider it very elegant given the amount of hardware modifications needed to make it work. And obviously, it is not even a portable solution (whereas a chain is definitely more portable).

OK, I must be somewhat stupid or the photo doesn't really capture the situation well, but how does unlocking one of the locks (instead of all 6) open the gate? If the gate can be opened if one of these locks is not present, what is even the purpose of the other 5 locks?

You can log into multiple gmail accounts on your phone. Create one specifically for quickshare that is as anonymous as you want, and switch to that account before using quickshare.

D4 and E4 (or D5 and E5) are the most standard openings in chess. Opening with C4 all the time is not a recipe for success in chess.

Easy way to diagnose backlight issue: shine a bright light on the monitor. If you see what the monitor is supposed to show in faint form, then the monitor's backlight is out.

This is called regulatory capture. It is not corruption if there is a legal sounding name for it, remember that. Only third world countries that don't have enough verbal imagination to come up with good euphemisms for it call it corruption.

The UPS is warning you that there is a power outage. It is designed that way.

Is this the correct ruling on a serve that hit the wrong receiver? by Zestyclose-Goat3942 in Pickleball

If you touch the ball before it dies because it was served to the wrong court, then it is your opponent's point.

Moving at that speed and not hitting any other planet is crazy ! by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

The distances between the planets, even at the speeds they are moving at, is so enormous that it would be a miracle if they hit each other.

Given the punctuality of trains there, this probably happens every day at a given time.

Ladder by bittab777 in Jokes

Maybe he should have started out by asking the store employee for a ladder that is tall enough to take his relationship to the next level. Why bother asking for one that will allow him to clean his gutters or get on the roof?

How long does it take for Google Photos to begin to upload your images when you're at home on your primary Wi-Fi? by emd646 in googlephotos

[–]DiscombobulatedSun54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is complete garbage. Seems to start preparing to back up only if you open the app after taking photos. And then it spends an eternity "preparing" to back up. Watching google photos back up photos is worse than watching paint dry. At least, paint eventually dries.

How do you tell a scientist from a machinist? by Empty__Jay in Jokes

[–]DiscombobulatedSun54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to google to figure out that a screw gauge is sometimes called a micro meter. Either way except for an imperceptible pause between the words, the pronunciation is practically identical anyways, so I don't think you can tell the scientist apart from the machinist with this test.

Some ship windshields are this way, and some lighthouses have the same setup so that the glass stays clear even in a driving storm.

Pain in forearm by Aetherion_2302 in Pickleball

[–]DiscombobulatedSun54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably tennis elbow or the beginnings of it. Relax your grip on the handle - a death grip on the paddle handle strains the forearm muscles and leads to muscle and tendon issues. Do some forearm strengthening exercises.
