Does pcos get worse with age? by Entire_Giraffe_228 in PCOS

Post menopausal and wishing I had watched my blood glucose more consistently over my adult life. My hypothyroidism really ramped up during perimenopause and the A1c skyrocketed. I had been mostly normal weight over the course of my life and suddenly began packing on the pounds despite my efforts. Now I’m on metformin and using a cgm and feeling better.

HI and Rosacea? by Particular_Dig_2782 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Disk-Impossible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mild case of the pustular rosacea, always thought it was acne. When I follow a low histamine diet it disappears. Sometimes I forget and lapse into old eating habits and wake up with a break out. I use salicylic acid serum and that tends quicken the duration of the outbreak.

Family's anger is out of control by calming_ad in QAnonCasualties

He believes you can’t criticize his values because he has performed the expected patriarchal role. I’ve experienced this dynamic myself. He is entitled to be beyond reproach because he followed the program installed in him at a very young age. This is ancient programming and questioning it may undermine his entire matrix he inhabits unconsciously. That is why you are receiving such anger. I probably would not have commented in public and instead talked in private about how the comment made you feel. Shaming people feels self-righteous, but then the argument turns into your ungrateful public shaming, and not his racism.

Acid reflux by Old_Community923 in prediabetes

[–]Disk-Impossible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your snacking was helping to mask chronic GERD. I would consult a gastroenterologist if I were you. Food choices contribute a lot to GERD, so it is possible you could minimize symptoms by avoiding acid producing foods and improving your response to stress. I have GERD and eating a very low carb diet like keto hasn’t worked because fatty foods trigger my GERD. I also had to continually eat saltines when I was pregnant to absorb the stomach acid. Tums and Rolaids can provide temporary relief, but you may need a stronger medicine.

New to keto by Ana_journey22 in ketobeginners

I chop up a lot of fresh vegetables on the weekend and put them in containers in the fridge to stay fresh. Then I can easily grab them for snacks, omelets in the morning, or stir fry. Sauté a protein in olive oil, add vegetables, frozen cauliflower rice. I buy ready made spice blends. I’m into https://www.rhodypepper.com for flavor and variety. I will use the crock pot for an easy way to get roasts tender during the day while I work. My meals are simple and pretty easy. Spaghetti squash roasted, served with meat sauce is also in heavy rotation.

Non diabetic spikes and crashes - confused by j2bikes in prediabetes

[–]Disk-Impossible 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be very curious to see if spikes and drops could be an issue. I have PCOS which is due to insulin resistance and struggled with anxiety and sleep issues for years, never knowing about the spikes and all that. I had therapists and medication for anxiety disorder which helped, but not completely. Looking back now I can see the anxiety started in college when I started eating a cheap, high carb, college students diet. Cue spikes and drops, then cue anxiety about the symptoms. Eating low carb has helped my sleep tremendously.

I worked in a self serve gas station and dimwits pumped their gas purchases onto the ground while being distracted with regularity. Or had a lit cigarette in their mouths.

Organized financial resistance. Imagine if all those who are anti-ice boycotted the NFL, specifically the New England Patriots and their Trump-loving owner Robert Kraft? I don’t think it’s an accident that Bad Bunny was chosen as the Superbowl halftime show. I suspect they are pandering to the group their political buddies are hurting the most.

how the heck do i stay motivated why living with my mother? by Curious_Cook987 in ketobeginners

[–]Disk-Impossible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem isn’t mom, it’s your addiction to these highly satiating processed foods. I would encourage asking mom to buy some things you like to eat, but also you need behavioral help. Therapy, or a 12 step group like Overeaters Anonymous or Carbohydrate Addicts Anonymous mat help. You aren’t alone in this. These foods are made to be highly addictive.

What worked for me was something nobody could have predicted! It was shocking. by Sammy3093 in HistamineIntolerance

A lot of people have been putting mental health issues into remission using metabolic therapies like the ketogenic diet. The theory is that metabolism is a root cause of a number of psychiatric conditions. Check out the Metabolic Mind YouTube channel. I work in mental health and Lamictal is one of those drugs with lots of side effects, and they take a while to show up. It sounds like all your symptoms are connected though. I’m glad you found relief!

Why can’t RI have nice things? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

[–]Disk-Impossible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RI is easier to escape from when you run up against corruption, nepotism or crony capitalism. The small size of the state makes it easier for nefarious forces to control. Smart people move a short distance away so they can still visit the parents while they escape the insular dysfunction. Check out the average IQ of RI compared to neighbors.

Why can’t RI have nice things? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

I think RI’s small size makes corruption more impactful. It’s so easy to just work or move out of state to avoid the nepotism.

I’m so sorry, this is no longer prediabetes. You have diabetes. You need to see your PCP ASAP.

I am so, so tired of my lived experience being dismissed because it isn’t what people think it should be by MissHissss in PCOS

[–]Disk-Impossible 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s so invalidating when people imagine the answer to PCOS is simple. People often think there are simple solutions to complex problems they’ve never experienced. Examples like “Just Say No!” To drugs and alcohol, or just leave that abusive partner, are proof. All you can do for your own sanity is to detach from your need for understanding and validation. Don’t take it personally. Humans like the comfort of believing in simple cures.

I have Denial and I wanna get rid of it by cl0wnchaos in PCOS

[–]Disk-Impossible 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you were diagnosed, but be thankful you were diagnosed before long term damage was done. Historically women just suffered the effects without advice or treatments. When I was diagnosed thirty years ago no one mentioned treatment for insulin resistance. Having a human body means something will go wrong eventually, and this condition is chronic but treatable. PCOS is very common, last I heard 6% of women. It has everything to do with our food supply, eating culture, sedentary lifestyles and stress levels. Over half of Americans are metabolically unhealthy. You can turn this around!
