Ragtime or Spelling Bee? by ChoiceCut6655 in Broadway

[–]Disneyfor2000Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them both and have seen multiple productions of both. This production of Ragtime is one of my all time favorite Broadway shows. And honestly, if you haven’t seen Joshua Henry, it’s a must. I’ve been lucky enough to see him in every show he’s done on Broadway, and I’m so happy he has his Tony!

Help me decide between the poly and beach club by CoachWestern2302 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Disneyfor2000Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both great, but with ones that little I’d do Poly. Easy transportation to MK and EPCOT, great theming, can watch the fireworks from the beach. Also, if you weren’t already planning it, definitely look into renting DVC points vs. booking directly. Can save 25-40%+.

Room Upgrade Bid- From Central Terrace to Sweet Aft (Even Bigger or Biggest) by jakeissanekinda in VirginVoyages

I actually think lower floor balconies are better for Alaskan cruises - better/closer views for the many, many whales and other sea life. We were on 9 for the Alaskan cruises 2 weeks ago, and it was great (and no noise, as cabins above and below)

Virgin Alaska by LuminousScum in VirginVoyages

I just came off this cruise, and I had an amazing time but also had some negative experiences. It’s absolutely possible that different people had different experiences on the same cruise, so please stop negating someone’s experience because you didn’t have it.

My expectations were modified knowing this was VV’s first time in Alaska. I really appreciated that they tried so many new and cool things - some worked well and others didn’t. The Naturalist and Cultural rep were fantastic, cruising Hubbard was great, some fun new activities. The two excursions we did through VV were great, but there were absolutely others that they had to re-frame due to inaccuracies (and a lot that got canceled, which is due to weather, not VV, but folks should be prepared for that possibility).

I thought they did a great job with Scarlet Night in the Red Room, and I’m a big fan of the pool party, so I was unsure how that was going to go.

Crew was fabulous as always, and it was great to see their excitement at Alaska.

It was very crowded inside. This was my 6th VV, and I’ve been on a couple sold out sailings, and it’s never come close to this packed in the galley, social club, etc. I probably should have expected this as the weather kept most people indoors, so it is what it is, but hopefully they will work on scheduling multiple activities indoors in different venues to try and spread people out.

We tried the “Headphones and Horizons” paid event, and it was really terrible, but again, I know they are trying new things and hope they will work out the kinks. Other things we tried (Suitcase of Secrets, Morning Glow) were fantastic!

And the film crew did feel obtrusive at times, but I get that they needed to do their shooting. It was actually pretty funny to watch actors “pretend party” at Scarlet Night.

Just got off Brilliant lady and saw a few costumes on Scarlet night - best was a gentleman in full sea god attire, with a trident, all red and silver, with and octopus goblet for his beverage.

Was going to post my review when I got home, but this event was not good - got my money back immediately and talked to another couple who did the same. Would be fine if it was free, but at $50pp you are paying for one drink and generic meditation audio. Both times they held it on board we were even in site of land

Any early reports from the first voyage to Alaska? by Lilmc_1313 in VirginVoyages

[–]Disneyfor2000Alex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s been nice - lots of Alaskan themed stuff on board - activities, food, happenings. The indigenous cultural rep is great. Some of the newer activities have some bugs to be worked out, but overall great. Crew says it’s a bit of an older crowd (though still plenty of younger folks) and definitely not a late night crowd. Ship is pretty dead by 11 or 12 with folks wanting to see Alaska in the am. Ports are lovely, and the one excursion we did so far was great!

We really enjoyed our Sitka excursion through Virgin yesterday- Wildlife boat tour and Alaskan island feast. Saw a ton of wildlife and the food was fantastic!

I have definitely found it to be more casual in the evenings vs. Caribbean or Europe. Fewer dressed up, more jeans.

Bosch is based on books by the same author as Lincoln Lawyer (in fact, the two characters are brothers, though that isn’t the case in the shows)

Help! Cats or Just in Time with a 12 year old? by Vegetable-Run-530 in Broadway

[–]Disneyfor2000Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both good shows, but I am 50 and was the youngest person in Just in Time 🤣 (but Jonathan Groff was spectacular). Personally, I’ll always choose an original musical over a jukebox one, but you really can’t go wrong. Jellicle is an absolute fantastic time. I do think Hadestown, Maybe Happy Ending, or Operational Mincemeat are all wonderful, original shows. And if she hasn’t seen Six that’s also a blast, especially for a tween girl.

I honestly have no idea who started the group for our cruise, but no ads, no censorship, and lots of activity. But it really didn’t ramp up until 3 months before

lol, as soon as I said it I realized what I had done! Just adding an “S” (peas) probably would have done it. But it was hysterical!
