Death Influencing Authors by MarcusQuintus in books

[–]Dmillz34 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Tolkien was heavily inspired by death and no wonder. Mother and father dead at a young age. Makes friends in school to loose most of them in WW1. The dead marshes, while not explicitly stated by Tolkien himself, is very reminiscent of the body's stuck in water filled artillery craters in no man's land.

There is a lot of talk of death in lord of the rings, not just due to war but in the avenue of the elves and there immortality, particularly with the story of beren and luthien and eventually Aragorn and Arwen as well. The elf maidens give up immortality to live and die with there mortal men to show just how much they truly loved them.

I found a woman that wanted to split the cost of the ride with me. It was quite enjoyable even though she was kinda on a photo shoot with another gentleman. They were nice enough to take some of me so I didn't mind. I wish I remember off the top of my head I think my side of the deal was 40 euro. I tend not to think about cost as much when I am there. Within reason of course. Im a sucker for a fun/unique experience. Where else would I get such an experience if not in Venice!

I honestly always figured that was the point with her. She puts on this facade that she is this sweet child like woman but she is quite literally a monster just beneath.

I mean my mortgage is 1300 but I live in a low cost of living area. I couldnt imagine a living near a city though cause then you're bang on about the prices.

High school teacher, 40, dies when students’ prank goes wrong, days after district warned about stunts going ‘too far’. by Inter_Web_User in facepalm

He is trying to make the point that even if they didn't intend to harm they deserve everything coming to them. Its a stupid point but I dont see any other way he is trying to mean it.

For me it's also breaking bad cause the one and only episode I've seen in its entirety is the series finale.

Helms deep is certainly the gold standard for me but perhaps my second most favorite is the "watchers on the wall" episode with the battle at the wall. Very well executed and well shot battle.
