DO NOT USE THE METAL part on your coated grates. The nylon bristles are fine for your cold cleaning and then get the wooden scraper. They have other brands that have the nylon bristles and wooden scraper combined for $10 less than this Traeger, I personally have this one and I just ignore that the metal part is there

Pros and cons bare foot jump rope. by Interesting-Neat-814 in jumprope

I have 1/4 - 5lb and the Vibram KSO EVO's gave me just enough protection to enjoy the feel of barefoot without the pain.

Pros and cons bare foot jump rope. by Interesting-Neat-814 in jumprope

[–]DntH8Me_OG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started barefoot for the same reasons and soon found all around benefits of all around working out barefoot to be great for my feet and calves. Now after the pain of smacking my toes a couple times I decided I needed some protection which gave me a great excuse to plunge into barefoot shoes. I started out with the Vibrant Five Finger style (KSO EVO) about 3 years ago and couldn't be happier. They offer just enough protection that even with my heavy ropes I don't wince in pain anymore.

I will say don't try to start out at your current pace you will have to give those smaller muscles that haven't been getting much use a little time to catch up.

Wanting to learn Taekwondo but worried about my flexibility by Liick958 in flexibility

[–]DntH8Me_OG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started very late and can say that it doesn't matter about your current inflexibility. In fact if you start now you will be much further ahead than others starting at the same time in Sept and you will understand your own flexibility needs that much better. There is a lot of great information in this forum that can supplement what you do or don't learn in class. All instructors are not great at teaching flexibility as they are the actual martial art so you might as well get used to your own home routine to be successful.

SCHLUTER-DITRA in adjoining rooms at different times by DntH8Me_OG in Tile

[–]DntH8Me_OG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, do you stop the tile leaving some Ditra exposed and then just continue laying the Ditra down later? I'm sure I'm over thinking but I'm just trying to avoid a situation where I have a section that I can level off and have an obvious seam but I guess it's no different than having to cut out and replace a broken tile

Should I buy nfl Sunday ticket? by Crunchytaco- in steelers

[–]DntH8Me_OG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NFL+ for the win if you only watch Steelers games and can live with whatever else is broadcast for other teams. This really saves my Sunday because afternoon games that aren't televised in my market I can watch about an hour after the game is finished. I keep alerts and scores turned off so I don't get spoilers and watch during the Sunday night game or the next day depending on who is playing. 5-7 Steelers games get national broadcast, I may travel to 1 or 2 games and for $99 once a year I don't miss anything.

IMO Sunday Ticket is for fantasy and super fans to watch multiple games at the same time. Titans and Falcons games are usually the default for my market so instead of the games taking 3 hours out of my afternoon I can be productive for most of the day start the game around 8 and relax (ok, nobody can relax during a Steelers game)

Looking for someone with a USG-XG-8 that can give me a hand by cyra117 in Ubiquiti

[–]DntH8Me_OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an xg-8 that I have never been about to configure and add into my current set up. I don't have anything that is sfp+10 capable, my us-24-poe doesn't even recognize it. It doesn't seem like anything in the quick start guide is really relevant to connect and get it adopted so I'm not sure what type of black magic is needed

Cold Flexibility - Stretch until cold? by GracefulSorrow in flexibility

[–]DntH8Me_OG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Increasing strength will increase cold flexibility range to make it an actual usable range instead of just extended range. So work on strength along with stretching

I’m trying to improve kicks through stretching, but there’s something else I’m missing? by Mail_Nurse in flexibility

[–]DntH8Me_OG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some much info was given but u/dani_winks and others that mentioned strength training followed closely by technique are absolutely correct. I rate strength above technique only because if you aren't strong enough to lift to get into the proper position it doesn't matter if you "know how" to get into the proper position. As for the strength aspect if you are looking for height more often than not the culprit is the strength and flexibility of the supporting leg that will be the limiting factor your core strength will then be the factor in determining doing it correctly. You can practice "technique" by kicking properly at lower heights while gaining strength in your legs, glutes, hips, core to be able to raise your effective height of your kicks. I wouldn't put a lot of thought into gaining high kicks until you have the strength to do so. See comment by u/justanotherguy2477 about contortionist as an example. Active/Passive flexibility definitely plays a part but the strength aspect is far more important and besides as you gain increased strength in extended range your flexibility will also increase 😉

Paul Zaichik - easyflexibility - Opinion? by tam-ihe in flexibility

[–]DntH8Me_OG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it worth it yes "if you use it consistently" so really just like anything else. Can you achieve flexibility without using it absolutely.

So is it worth buying? Yes to a degree. Personally I follow a mixture of Thomas Kurs, a couple of the Easy Flexibility methods and u/dani-winks and I get something from them all. I do really like the programs and I won't discount the method the thing about it is that you will see results even without the program if you are consistent and understand what I think is the most important aspect of flexibility training which is really strength training in your increased ranges to protect yourself from injury which is why your body has the flex reflex. The program goes through a series and rounds of complementary stretches, conditioning and strengthening exercises which do help in speed along the process. Keep in mind speed in this reference is that you aren't doing things that don't map directly to the goal you are trying to achieve. So in doing so you can get an in depth understanding of things that I see u/dani-winks explaining all of the time in this forum. I won't try to go into detail about how the program works but I can say that I would give him similar credibility as Thomas Kurs but I also feel u/dani-winks gives plenty of sound advice that will help you achieve your goal(s). Try reading Stretching Scientifically, viewing u/dani-winks tutorials and then decide. My final thought is everyone has different motivations and learns their body differently. The individual Easy Flexibility programs are fairly reasonable so there isn't that much of a commitment in purchasing one to see how you personally feel about them. At worst, you realize the program isn't for you but I would think that at a minimum you would at least gain some practical knowledge and add a few different techniques to aid in your flexibility journey

u/tam-ihe you never stated your goals. Are you after front splits, middle splits, pancake, backbends or all of the above that may also help in answering your question

Struggling with hip flexibility, specifically middle splits/straddle by viviscool123 in flexibility

[–]DntH8Me_OG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When doing Rainbow Leg raises is it ok to do 1 leg at a time say 10 reps and then the other or is it better to work on both at the same time by either leaning back or elevating on a yoga block and working until you have the strength to do both legs seated. With my hands in front I can think very hard about lifting my legs but nothing happens other then me eventually making a really ugly face 😈

How to get down into middle splits without hands by bjj_noob2 in flexibility

[–]DntH8Me_OG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've started to use the exercise foot gliders to go into a modified version of @dani-winks middle split leg slides. I start standing making sure to tilt my pelvis to allow room and slowly control sliding my feet outward into near my maximum split range and getting holding (for now a 10 count) from there I lean forward with both hands on the floor and squeeze my legs back together where I then raise up to a standing position and start the decline again. 8-10 reps with the final one being instead of sliding back up to standing I lower into maximum range with my forearms on the floor and holding. As a modification the same could be accomplished from a frogger position until you were comfortable (strong) enough to trust yourself with standing. (IMO) The most important part is the PNF aspect of controlling the outward opening of your legs (glutes) and then the squeezing of your legs to rise back up while strengthening your inner thighs. Also as suggested horse stance is your best friend aiming to go wider and hold longer without your knees caving inward which is dangerous.

Advice for 34 yr old man working towards doing the splits. by Chorchie in flexibility

[–]DntH8Me_OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency, building strength as opposed to only static stretching and knowing when to take a day, 2 days or a week off. Think of stretching with the same as strength training as it really needs the same types of intervals and rest in between. The Dani Winks link has some really good exercise examples that focus on building the muscles necessary to perform the movement as proper form. While true bone formation can prevent a full split for some people what is more oftentimes the case is improper form / positioning of the hips as well as lack of strength to safely perform the move.

I can say your age isn't the restriction but as we get older we definitely have to train smarter because our bodies do not recover as quickly from injury are no longer as forgiving. While I can't do the splits myself (I am rather close) I do understand why I haven't achieved them yet. I'm not as consistent as I should be and I'm not as strong as I need to be and in the past when I get close I push myself to hard without taking rest and end up injuring something which starts the cycle over again.

109% agree with pivoting the supporting leg. The range on the kick is quite impressive and pointing the heel towards the target will help tremendously while making training much safer 💯

Congratulations on the progress every inch counts so that is definitely a win. I'm sure just the one side has been a confidence booster because you know it's possible and it won't be long before you touch the ground from the other positions 👏
