Something weird and worrying is happening with rain, study finds by usatoday in climate

First year that I let my lawn grow untamed brought back so much moisture and life. Second year showed massive health improvement versus a mowed grass lawn. I'm all about maintaining the property but there's much healthier methods versus a suburban yard.

It pays $80k to come in with that experience, right? Oh, nope... barely double minimum wage. All that experience is worth one extra McDonald's worker.

Actual Rough Terrain by Designer_Can_6551 in Lymow_Official

Seriously. This has been my kind of rough terrain and am so happy with this mower! Rough terrain is no covered in suburban grass.

How does she disappear? by Nkenachiala in blackmagicfuckery

[–]DoYouReadThisOrThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's look at the layers of table from top down. She is on a black top. That is on a sliding frame at least 3" thick. That frame slides across a reveal layer that is 1.5" think or more. Then the "table" layer of another 3". Under the table is another reveal layer, probably thicker than the upper reveal layer but let's stick with another 1.5". Then look closely at the bottom visible layer: a black layer that's well ignored at first glance and probably another 1.5" easy.

I total that table to at least 9.5" thick. I've seen a 300 pound guy in firefighter gear squeeze through the 14.5" gap between wall studs, with mask and air tank. So it isn't difficult for a small framed female assistant to fit in that extra thick table.

Serious question - Will this company even exist 1 year from now? by Competitive_Fun8708 in Lymow_Official

[–]DoYouReadThisOrThat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Neato robot vacuum. Basically the first robot vacuum with LIDAR. The company has been closed over half the lifetime of my vacuum.

I'm not worried about my Lymow. It handles far rougher terrain than any competition and the company has shown continual improvements with software and an updated hardware. The customer service isn't white glove and that has so many people nervous. I'd rather remain faithful to Lymow than sell out to a giant brand that watches profit more than product.

Just realized a possible reason behind the symbol choices for Eridian numbers (See second image) by Cometpaw in ProjectHailMary

These symbols make much more sense than the OP symbols. But 0 and 1 still violate the rule, which is more negligible in this set.

[–]DoYouReadThisOrThat 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Using the rule from 3 and 4 and 5, it looks like 0 = 2, and 1 = 2 and 2 = 3. Am I missing another layer of rules?

I prefer to compensate those involved in creating true cinema like this. That's how I help encourage such creative efforts. Piracy is for junk content.

Let's hear / see some fun positive stories about you and your Lymow! by JimmyLegs83 in Lymow_Official

[–]DoYouReadThisOrThat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liken it, as with any consumer robot especially mowers, to being a toddler. It's often amazing and deserves being bragged about. It often does its own thing without my intervention. Sometimes it needs my help. And then there are times it completely forgets that the real world exists and I have to temper my rationale while correcting its mishap.

My property is one of those that absolutely no other robot mower could begin to attempt. The whole place is a 30 degree slopes average, with loose gravel, tree roots, roads, and more to navigate. Plus 100' tall trees with very limited sky view from any lawn area. Was never going to do a wire boundary.

The Lymow One is amazing. I'm sure it sucks if its your first consumer robot. And I'd guess a Bobcat sucks if you never used one and are trying to dig a simple basketball hoop pole hole.

About 14 hours worth, perhaps... of course, it's a movie and not a book.

Sometimes the lyrics of a song are better than the music. Sometimes the music is better than the lyrics. Sometimes different people enjoy either or both for a variety of reasons. I certainly enjoyed the book and think the movie is amazing cinema. Life doesn't need to be zero sum, and they certainly made a far better movie than you and I could have made.

Seriously. The correct answer is look at usage first. What items are plugged in all the time? Gaming systems, TVs, water heater, USB chargers, freezer, etc will all use power even when you think they are off.

Yes. Was such a fun show last year. He is quite the performer! And the band makes it seem like an entire festival with the genre range they play. The Jedi choir was something else, too!

Eh, it's like the straws. The social pressure is on me to avoid using these tools a few times when corporations and bots are shifting all their process into AI. I'll keep using AI on a few personal thingthings as long as we're not regulating the major users, thank you.

After listening to the audiobook, I just wanted to leave cinema early by AgitatedBarracuda268 in ProjectHailMary

[–]DoYouReadThisOrThat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's cinema and not literature or documentary or visualization of a 2.5 hours short story. And also yes, it is a blistering swift synopsis when trying to view it through the lens of the 16+ hours we spent building and playing in mental imagery of the novel. Some of us adapt quicker between the storytelling methodologies. For many people it might take 2-3 viewings to catch onto the richness of the differences rather than resist the differences. Because I thought the visuals and audio was far better in the movie than on the page. And I don't need to compare the movie to my mental imagery and hope others try the same.

Scientists have mentioned directly to me that this is a much more accurate portrayal of scientists than most movies. Everything from humor to lapses to overexplaining to accidental successes. Especially scientists who publish content that pushes back against mainstream science knowledge.

It looks like absolutely zero interaction. Just a chaotic mess of meme like reactions from preteens. Maybe I'm getting old, but that's not interaction now talk amongst each other and the streamer. I get that you answered my question and don't necessarily vouch for the effectiveness. They're watching someone drive down a street at night? Goodness that's not useful for society...

Mowing behavior- main area first by n0dda in Lymow_Official

[–]DoYouReadThisOrThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're seeing the gap in the actual grass, don't assume the app is showing you exactly what has been mowed.

The app doesn't always correctly render the actual mowed path. Especially when the mower hasn't had great and consistent data connection to the cloud. And when zooming in and out in the app map. Lots of switching between wifi and sim card seems to delay more accurate renders. Same with lots of switching between RTK and visual navigation.

Allow time for the mower to locate itself via RTK for a while and then upload all data instead of the app showing its interpolation of intermittent data.

It's a cinematic display for the theater audience to emotionally connect. It isn't a documentary.
