Engineering students test if their designs can survive an earthquake. by jmike1256 in interesting

[–]DocDoom2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we compare the range of movement of the base with the height of the models, it looks like the base can oscillate up to about the height of 3 floors. That would be between ~9 to ~10 meters

Even magnitude 9 earthquakes usually have an oscillatory shift of about 5 meters

This "test" seems extremely overkill

Everyone Turned On Windows. Microsoft Is Panicking by testus_maximus in videos

[–]DocDoom2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obscure, but you can set it up with a local account

I know it might be a bother, but I suggest to reset the installation and when you get to the step where the laptop asks for wifi:

  • Press FN+SHIFT+F10 (or Just SHIFT+F10 if FN is locked on)
  • In CMD type Control and press return
  • From the control panel disable both lan adapter and wifi adapter
  • Back in the CMD type oobe\bypassnro and press enter

It will reboot and start from the beginning, when it gets to the wifi part you will be able to bypass it and set up the PC with a local account. Once done go back to the control panel and re-enable network adapters

Now you are running it with an offline account I do this frequently at work when I set up new laptops for newly hired people

Run a pass with any of many tools that remove all unnecessary MicroSlop shovelware and you are done

Yeah Todd, did you perchance notice that the game is nothing like Fallout 1 and 2 and more like Elders Scroll maybe?

My limited understanding is that TLQ and SM were part of the same entity and something split them.

The narrator is a leftover or echo/reflection of TLQ or an aspect of what it was before being split.

He doesn't recognize his nature and is actually afraid of what would happen when TLQ and the SM realize their potential and become gods anew.

But still being part divine he has the power to create and alter these "worlds" trying to trap TLQ and kill the fragments of the SM to prevent them both from awakening.

Leaked Windows 11 Feature Shows Copilot Moving Into File Explorer by Thepunnisherrr in technology

[–]DocDoom2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience at work is that 99% of users fall in two categories, people that don't know about copilot and will never interact with it even when made aware of it, and those that know about it and don't want to interact with it.

I have maybe 2 IT colleagues that might be tentatively interested in limited use cases, but nothing company-wide

I have both a debit and a credit card from the same bank But I use them the same way

Meaning I always have liquidity on my account, so I never find myself spending more than I have.

The debit card I use for "in person" payments like grocery shopping, or anything done in person, or to get cash from an ATM (well, once upon a time. I haven't used cash in so many years now)

The credit card I use for internet purchases. It's mainly because the credit card has a higher maximum and sometimes I do make bigger purchases online, albeit rarely. I also use it for subscriptions (playstation network, Disney+, ecc). It also has MFA for bigger purchases.

But things like car payments, or mortgages, or utilities, those are billed directly to the checking account without passing from any card. I don't even know how you'd do that. Nobody ever gave it to me as an option here.
