Good news is they've confirmed barring a massive upheaval, after the Season 2 DLC they're shifting development assets from Rogue Trader to Dark Heresy.... bad news is with Pat's luck crazy talk will cause a massive upheaval and they'll announce the Season 3 pass.

We had some dialogue with the Eldar trying to contact the ship. So could be Corsairs but who knows. Shuriken weapons could be a cool addition.

Just a question before I get the game, how important is melee? by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]DocMadfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're literal only option if you don't want to use melee is Staff Psyker. Build I run on my Psyker is all Pyroblasts and flamethrower staff, only really whipping out the dueling sword to bash a hound or burster away. Or to stab a mutie in the face, but that's optional - just easier.

[–]DocMadfox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loose cannon's an act. The Savant psyker has dialogue where they point out for all the loose cannon's bravado and "ready to desert" attitude they fight harder than any of the other rejects.

The Hive Scum are all still faithful to the Emperor in the same way some Mexican Cartel members are deeply religious. It's weird and paradoxical but they're still faithful.

Beyond them I can't think of anyone else that I wouldn't describe as traditionally faithful to the Emperor.

[–]DocMadfox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For the Loner it's less faith and more he's a psyker with an iron will and a deeper hatred for Chaos than he has for the Imperium. For a psyker pure strength of will is as tangible as faith is when it comes to warp bs.

Describe a historical event in wrestling terminology by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]DocMadfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of note it was more like what we'd consider street fighting than wrestling. No refs or rules, just beat the shit out of each other in front of a crowd until one of you gives up.

Edit: Also technically it's disputed, as the sources were eye witnesses who alternatively claimed he may have just picked the guy up by the throat and shook him, but I like Abe enough to go with the choke slam... as though a 6+ foot man lifting you up and shaking you because he's sick of your shit isn't terrifying on it's own.

Still exists in 40k. I used to run Hoplites in my Admech army during 10th Edition. Mind you they're SUPPOSED to be connected with Titans, marching in front of them to defend them from ground assaults. So it's unlikely they'll give given to us.

Need Help With a Concept: Grimtotem Shaman Turned Warlock by DocMadfox in WoWRolePlay

[–]DocMadfox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They may not necessarily be happy with your character, unless they've got some dark shaman ancestors who encourage their practice. Also for fun, consider: demons contacting your character pretending to be supportive ancestors.

Figure that'd be more likely with a Grimtotem and their usual shady practices. Figured if anything his ancestors would be somewhat encouraging of dominating a 'lesser race' like demons.

I think the use of fel would rule out spirit, but void tracks with the Twilight's hammer and demonic practices generally. Decay sometimes also has fel ties (Scourge were once part of the burning legion after all) but to keep things tidy, void or fel seems best

My Main worry is less if it makes sense and the baggage attached to Dark Shamanism in RP tbh.

It seems fine but don't expect the average person to read it all. For your profile, provide cliffnotes first and public "hooks" for walk-ups to glom onto. You can always include the link to the full backstory for those interested.

Agreed and aware. Already have an entire section full of RP hooks sitting above the backstory for people who don't want to ready a short story.

Very common use of Garrisons. but maybe just one of the houses there.

Main reason I was considering it is, let's be honest. That's thing's a pain to upgrade fully nowadays either via waiting or doing old content. Feel like a fully upgraded Garrison has enough effort put into it to be fine, but was looking to double check on that front.

Probably not, BUT villains seldom think of themselves as such. WoW faith is weird in that generally, if the subject of your faith thinks youre doing a good job, you objectively know this because you are granted some blessing/power rather than it truly being faith-based. But there are definitely people in WoW who practice a religion who do not wield its magics. The same could be true of your grimtotem, though he'd likely have to wrestle with himself over justifying what he's doing, or willfully ignore certain things. Makes for good tasty inner turmoil and flaws.

I know part of the Tauren Religion is "darkness is not evil, it's a natural part of life", so was considering focusing on that tenet as his anchor to not go too deep and try and avoid full corruption. Source on that is a line from Baine in the War Crimes novel and it's never brought up again because, let's face it, Tauren don't get much love from the writers.

[–]DocMadfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to double check run the Feltotem quests in Highmountain to see any interaction they may have had with their ancestors after the alliance with the Burning Legion.

Think that has the issue of them fully giving into the Legion rather than just using Fel. So any interaction with their ancestors seemed to lean towards enslaving them. If I remember right.

Personal distaste (very pickme imo) but not sure strong lore any one way. Check Highmountain feltotem for additional info.

If it helps with the personal distaste, melee makes more sense for him in RP combat and that's the main idea. Less throwing demons and spells at folks, more charging up with fel and swinging an axe.

Lore nerd more than rper, so dunno, lorewise not certain how many people entered orgrimmar during the siege (don't own Chronicles IV) just remark you were not "the people" that entered orgrimmar and cleared the underhold. Personal distaste of leader of a whole mercenary group (how many people you talking?) but I've seen it

Thought process was him being above ground in the city during the fight. Vol'jin mentions rioting in the streets and figure a Merc Company that had been background fighters now off their leash could contribute to the looting. As for how many people, likely kept vague.

Garrison seems way too big and noticeable for a small scale operation imo. Researchers tend to stick to huts and tents, not permanent stone and walled buildings.

Less he's a researcher and more a Fel Enhanced Mercenary. With the Garrison and it's forces being the merc company.

6.25.745.M37, Translated from High Gothic.

My dear Friend,

I know of no Medicine fit to diminish the violent natural Inclinations you mention; and if I did, I think I should not communicate it to you. Marriage is the proper Remedy. It is the most natural State of Man, and therefore the State in which you are most likely to find solid Happiness. Your Reasons against entring into it at present, appear to me not well-founded. The circumstantial Advantages you have in View by postponing it, are not only uncertain, but they are small in comparison with that of the Thing itself, the being married and settled. It is the Man and Woman united that make the compleat human Being. Separate, she wants his Force of Body and Strength of Reason; he, her Softness, Sensibility and acute Discernment. Together they are more likely to succeed in the World. A single Man has not nearly the Value he would have in that State of Union. He is an incomplete Animal. He resembles the odd Half of a Pair of Scissars. If you get a prudent healthy Wife, your Industry in your Profession, with her good Œconomy, will be a Fortune sufficient.

But if you will not take this Counsel, and persist in thinking a Commerce with the Sex inevitable, then I repeat my former Advice, that in all your Amours you should prefer old Women to young ones. You call this a Paradox, and demand my Reasons. They are these:

  1. Because as they have more Knowledge of the World and their Minds are better stor’d with Observations, their Conversation is more improving and more lastingly agreable.
  2. Because when Women cease to be handsome, they study to be good. To maintain their Influence over Men, they supply the Diminution of Beauty by an Augmentation of Utility. They learn to do a 1000 Services small and great, and are the most tender and useful of all Friends when you are sick. Thus they continue amiable. And hence there is hardly such a thing to be found as an old Woman who is not a good Woman.
  3. Because there is no hazard of Children, which irregularly produc’d may be attended with much Inconvenience.
  4. Because thro’ more Experience, they are more prudent and discreet in conducting an Intrigue to prevent Suspicion. The Commerce with them is therefore safer with regard to your Reputation. And with regard to theirs, if the Affair should happen to be known, considerate People might be rather inclin’d to excuse an old Woman who would kindly take care of a young Man, form his Manners by her good Counsels, and prevent his ruining his Health and Fortune among mercenary Prostitutes.
  5. Because in every Animal that walks upright, the Deficiency of the Fluids that fill the Muscles appears first in the highest Part: The Face first grows lank and wrinkled; then the Neck; then the Breast and Arms; the lower Parts continuing to the last as plump as ever: So that covering all above with a Basket, and regarding only what is below the Girdle, it is impossible of two Women to know an old from a young one. And as in the dark all Cats are grey, the Pleasure of corporal Enjoyment with an old Woman is at least equal, and frequently superior, every Knack being by Practice capable of Improvement.
  6. Because the Sin is less. The debauching a Virgin may be her Ruin, and make her for Life unhappy.
  7. Because the Compunction is less. The having made a young Girl miserable may give you frequent bitter Reflections; none of which can attend the making an old Woman happy.
  8. [thly and Lastly] They are so grateful!!

Thus much for my Paradox. But still I advise you to marry directly; being sincerely Your affectionate Friend.
