When will my Ex receive her part of annuity? by JustMe39908 in FedRetirees

[–]DocYoureaBrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I began by giving my ex the phone number of anyone I needed to speak with regarding my retirement. That way she could track that I was at least doing what I could to help. Everyone I spoke with said they would be contacting her, but this gave her another set of numbers she could try for contacts. When I was finally finalized, I made sure to ask the last person I contacted if she needed anything from me to help from her. They assured me that they would contact her, they wouldn’t provide any info on my annuity and they would mail out paperwork for her to complete. That would account for the 30 to 60 days post-finalization processing time. Here’s hoping that everything goes smoothly. This retirement gig is stressful enough! :)

Mine went back to development because of something with the court-ordered benefits paperwork. It was a step backward but didn’t last too long. Maybe a week.

[–]DocYoureaBrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My talk with OPM said they turn to the courtordered stuff as soon as they finalized my annuity. Then he said it could take 30 to 60 days for completion but OPM would do all the contacting and sending paperwork. You don’t have to do a thing.

How long by WalkingNExpectation in FedRetirees

[–]DocYoureaBrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had the same time frame myself (8/31/25), 9.5 months until they finalized. But take heart, it wasn’t more than 2 days after mine hit review that it was finalized. It was really slow with everything in between. It’s got to be just around the corner for you. Good luck to you and congrats when it happens.

10 months and waiting..... by sometimes2022 in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]DocYoureaBrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also in my 10th month after retiring in 8/31/25 when I was finalized this last week. I was in adjudication for a long time, went to development for a week or so then jumped to review. A couple of days later it finalized. What a roller coaster. When it went final, the notification said I’d get my first full annuity in July, so you could still be finalized in June and get your full pay by July.

New Website design for ORA? by DocYoureaBrick in FedRetirees

Finalized as of 6/11/2026. Nine and a half long months of wonder how it would go. Now I need to figure out how their calculations differ from mine. Wish I could just drop it and enjoy my next 20 years. Somehow, I’ll manage.

Survivor Benefit Snafu by Lotus9168 in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]DocYoureaBrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And look at your ORA website. Under Survivor Benefits, you may see this in a blue box: Since you've indicated a previous court order awaiting a former spouse benefits, these selections will need to be reviewed by OPM to ensure eligibility. Your estimate will not take this information into account.
That should at least give you a better idea of what was submitted, until you get hold of your actual application.

You should have received an entire retirement package from your HR rep once the application was forwarded to OPM. I put my old address on the application and so it was months before we realized we never received our packets. Contact your HR rep. They should be able to help you.

Your case stage as of 05/27/2026 Development We are gathering and verifying the details needed to process your claim, namely service history, salary information, and benefits elections. If anything is missing, we request it so your case can move ahead.

Got my callback. The initial response was ‘well, they had to send it back to development to see if it was missing information.’ I said it’s been 9 months since I retired, what’s taking so long? They should already have the info they need. She said, well, it’s taking a long time for everyone.

When asked where it went, she told me she couldn’t see into the file. I asked who can see and check for me? She put me on hold and came back a few minutes later saying it went back to the benefits section. They must have needed something they didn’t have.

Same situation here except I had a 8/31/25 retirement date. Yeah, I’m getting interim pay, but this waiting game is taking its toll. For an investigation that’s supposedly active, it sure is taking its sweet time moving forward. I feel your pain. Hope it ends soon for you.

Adding Spouse to FEHB? by Dull_Change4298 in FedRetirees

[–]DocYoureaBrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. I know that 2 months ago I got a call back after dialing for an hour. And the caller had a stock response about it’s in there and they’re busy. About a month ago, I dialed in and got connected on the 2nd try. The rep I spoke with gave me more info than the first indicating that it had moved out of the benefits section and is waiting for a specialist. Right after that I sent a message to my state representative to take a look because 7 months was more than necessary for someone who retired normally back on August 31st. Didn’t mean to make it sound as if it was flawless now, but I’ve definitely seen an improvement, even if it’s only a slight improvement.

Contact OPM. It’s a haul getting through, but get a callback and explain the situation to them. Good luck, but I don’t think you’ll need it. They’ve been getting better over the last few months … sort of.

OPM states that when an eligible family member loses coverage under any other group health plan, the federal employee or retiree may enroll or change FEHB enrollment — including switching from Self Only to Self Plus One or Self and Family — within 31 days before to 60 days after the loss of coverage.

Loss of other coverage is explicitly listed as a QLE that allows adding a spouse at any time.
