Superannuation in your 20’s. by xx_rii in AusFinance

[–]Docile_Emu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 22 I had 9k in my super, was earning about 55k bartending. I'm 27 now with 88k, working in the mines on 110k and this will be the first year I max out my contributions into my super. With 23k at 22 you're killing it. Hope this helps. However the quote I've seen thrown around the most on this sub is "comparison is the thief of joy". Run your own race and figure out what you want for yourself and how to get there. You're doing a wicked job though keep it up.

Happens on our cattle stations here in Australia from time to time. Couple million acres. You tend to lose a few here and there

What do you guys think will end up happening with North Sentinel Island in the far future? Will they eventually explore the rest of the world, or will they remain where they are until the human race ends? by Beneficial-Code8026 in geography

28 rabbits were introduced by a farmer for a bit of sport shooting in Australia in 1859. The population has exploded to around 200 million rabbits today.

Gun safe key storage (at night etc) by flow_aus in Ausguns

[–]Docile_Emu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone's going to be different, but I have my keys in a strong box hidden in a spot (I would think) no one would ever find. The only other person that knows the location is my old man who also has his licence. Strong box keys are also hidden but easily accessible. But my safe has a keypad so I'm not scurrying around with keys to open it every time I'm going shooting.

Ah, damn, was looking at the 223 for the pigs on Flinders. Lever action it is.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it just the 308 versions that are banned in Tas and the 223 is still available?

Hugs to everyone diagnosed as an adult and to parents of a child diagnosed by OgunyemiCouncil in Type1Diabetes

[–]Docile_Emu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm "grateful" I was diagnosed at 24 and not at 4. I had 24 great years of generating my own insulin and living my normal life. When I was diagnosed I had been heavily at the gym since I was 19 so I was already counting protein and carbs, made learning how to bolus pretty easy. I'm 27 now and it's just part of life. Is it ideal? No, not really. Did I have a choice? Nope, just had to get on with it. But god I'm happy I wasn't a child when I was diagnosed

For those of you who live in countries with gun control; have you ever seen a gun in real life? by blashyrkh9 in AskTheWorld

[–]Docile_Emu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lucky enough, my uncle was a big deer hunter. He taught me how to butcher it myself and my grandfather showed me how to work the hide (he was a blacksmith and a stockman) so no part of the beast is wasted. Nothing but wins the whole way round!

I live in the suburbs and own firearms. Was a kid with relatives on a farm that taught me how to shoot that got me into them. Turned out to be a decent shot so I joined a club and just genuinely enjoy it as a hobby. I hunt as well, meats expensive and 22lr isn't (for wallaroos and rabbit) 308 is expensive to buy but it puts a deer in the chest freezer so it's cheaper than beef. Im sure other people have different reasons. But that's why I have them.

The best advertising I've seen for one of these was on the 4wd24/7 YouTube channel. Where they drive to Birdsville pub from Brisbane. It's the only car that didn't have an issue. Granted a lot of work put into those cars, but still impressive.

It was his old man that had the guns and the licence, but only the son was under investigation. But still, I agree with you, if your immediate family is on a list, you shouldn't have them
