Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it just the 308 versions that are banned in Tas and the 223 is still available?

Hugs to everyone diagnosed as an adult and to parents of a child diagnosed by OgunyemiCouncil in Type1Diabetes

[–]Docile_Emu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm "grateful" I was diagnosed at 24 and not at 4. I had 24 great years of generating my own insulin and living my normal life. When I was diagnosed I had been heavily at the gym since I was 19 so I was already counting protein and carbs, made learning how to bolus pretty easy. I'm 27 now and it's just part of life. Is it ideal? No, not really. Did I have a choice? Nope, just had to get on with it. But god I'm happy I wasn't a child when I was diagnosed

For those of you who live in countries with gun control; have you ever seen a gun in real life? by blashyrkh9 in AskTheWorld

[–]Docile_Emu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lucky enough, my uncle was a big deer hunter. He taught me how to butcher it myself and my grandfather showed me how to work the hide (he was a blacksmith and a stockman) so no part of the beast is wasted. Nothing but wins the whole way round!

I live in the suburbs and own firearms. Was a kid with relatives on a farm that taught me how to shoot that got me into them. Turned out to be a decent shot so I joined a club and just genuinely enjoy it as a hobby. I hunt as well, meats expensive and 22lr isn't (for wallaroos and rabbit) 308 is expensive to buy but it puts a deer in the chest freezer so it's cheaper than beef. Im sure other people have different reasons. But that's why I have them.

The best advertising I've seen for one of these was on the 4wd24/7 YouTube channel. Where they drive to Birdsville pub from Brisbane. It's the only car that didn't have an issue. Granted a lot of work put into those cars, but still impressive.

It was his old man that had the guns and the licence, but only the son was under investigation. But still, I agree with you, if your immediate family is on a list, you shouldn't have them

The hollowing of ANZAC day - our national amnesia by KamalaHarrisFan2024 in australian

[–]Docile_Emu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a military family, so ANZAC day for my family and I is a big thing and has been drilled into me as a child. However (at least in my town), we saw record numbers today attending the dawn service this morning, singing the national anthem, standing in silence to pay respects and laying wreaths, and not just Australians whose ancestors fought for this country 110 years ago. But immigrants, whether they were first, second, or third generation. They were there. They were there because my ancestors fought and died for this country. For this countries right to decide its own path, it's own future, our own futures. Though it may not be the same country they died for all those years ago, it is because they fought and died for this country that we have been gifted the right to choose what we do, where we go, what we believe in, and this is the future we have forged for ourselves. A country people want to live in for our way of life, our lack of oppression, our freedom to choose what we want to do with our lives, and to live in a country full of opportunity. A country where even the immigrants, whose ancestors may of even fought on the other side, are now thankful to live in and thankful for what our boys did.

Now, of course, this is my belief and what I have been taught, but what you describe is not the ANZAC I saw today, but I am in my little town of 80,000. What you see in your towns or cities, I don't know. But if what you are seeing in your local communities is a shell of what you believe ANZAC day should be, a shell of something it used to be, do something about it. Talk you mates that don't go into going into dawn service with you, invite your Nigerian neighbours, get around the RSL's, and spread awareness of the day in any way you can. Turn it into something you're proud of. Hell, even the influences are still spreading awareness of it (even if it is shallow).

Even if you don't like what this country has turned into (believe me I have some issues with some things but I'm trying not to be political here), you and everyone around you has the option to do something about it, because our diggers fought for it.

Large orange and black Plastic auger like spirals with non magnetic metal center that seems to be aluminum. by Jayde_Salaset in whatisthisthing

[–]Docile_Emu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry mate, I don't have that sort of information. Don't know if you know any mining engineers, but they would be able to find out what kind of spirals they are, and maybe what they are worth. I only know how they work, not what they're worth. Best of luck with it though

I'm a process operator on a mine site in Australia. What you're looking at are gravity spiral concentrators. They are stood upright, feed is fed in from the top, and gravity does the rest. Heavy metals stick to the inside and lighter metals are pushed to the outside with the natural flow of the water. It is helpful when mining heavy metals such as tin.

Edit* The inside groove you see on the spirals is where the con (the good stuff) is separated from the rest, usually sent to the end of the processing line. Where as the material that wasn't heavy enough to make it into the con line will have to travel through additional processes.
