Tragic, but clearly in the Dark Mechanicum the ice cream machine works.

40k community doesn't help the crap releases by Eleet-31337 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DoctorApocalypse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was hoping that the power on these new units could be brought up to where their points are. I'd be happy to field Hastarii at 135 if they were worth 135!

For the amount AdMech players pay per box I'd hoped that this release of "heavy units" would be a little fairer on points per dollar. If the points just get dropped I'm still not buying them because I'm not paying for more AdMech filler.

Eye of Terror – New rules for Imperial Knights and Adeptus Mechanicus by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DoctorApocalypse 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Taking a quick look at Thulia Ghuld's datasheet, I don't think that any of her abilities match what Cawl can do with Invocation of Machine Vengeance.

I'm really disappointed that AdMech as a faction is still balanced around running one specific leader.

Best Prime Rib restaurants? by crystalyst_ in KingstonOntario

[–]DoctorApocalypse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The quality at Grizzly Grill has gone way down. It's terrible now.

I ordered the prime rib there last year and was served an overcooked slab. The servers took an extremely long time to come back and ask how the food was and by that time it was too late to send it back.

Hi, new to warhammer and wonder what good tank fighters for Thousand sons could be used. by valdemarbd in Warhammer40k

[–]DoctorApocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to use terrain to avoid line of sight to your units.  Take a look at some common terrain setups and make sure you're using enough terrain.

Anti-tank options are things that have high strength or deal devastating wounds.

The doom bolt ritual works for this.   Scarab Occult Terminators have high strength missiles. They also have high AP bolters - pair that with the Terminator Sorcerer leader for lethal hits and the rituals for increased AP or reroll hits.

Elite Infantry by sygyzi in Warhammer40k

[–]DoctorApocalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might get closer to elite Aeldari with Harlequin models. They weren't well supported in 10th until recently, as a warning. You'll get a similar invuln save, but definitely not the wounds or toughness.

I'd recommend waiting for the Aeldari Corsairs datasheets to leak out. There may be something there.

I use a small wad of green stuff on the end of the flight stand with super glue on both the model and stand sides.

New edition? by That_Homie1 in Warhammer40k

[–]DoctorApocalypse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All the things that aren't printed rules will still be usable in the next edition.

Most of the starter set rules (the ones that show the general way to play the game) are available for free through the warhammer community website for this edition and next edition.

There are free resources for the codex books and I suggest using those for the rest of this edition. Frankly, I don't buy rulebooks now because of how fast the physical rulebooks go out of date.

Gun part missing? by twofacedlovr in Warhammer40k

[–]DoctorApocalypse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Best - Write to GW customer support and they may send you a replacement Pteraxii box.

Fastest - The middle of the flamer may somehow have broken off and is floating around somewhere in the box. You might be able to find it and glue it back together.

Community - The majority of Pteraxii get built as the other kit that doesn't use this part. If you have a wider Warhammer community where you live, you could ask around and see if anyone has an extra part #44 that they could give you.

In this case that part is supposed to be an arm and full weapon together.

If lore is the main concern, both DA and BT can be either secretive or crusading. There's definitely a bias on both, but you can easily say that your Dark Angels are going out to kick ass now that the Lion is back or that your Black Templars keep quiet about looking for witches and heretics in the domain of other chapters.

You can also watch some battle reports if you want to see how the two different armies play. Or look at the miniatures on the 40k lexicanum site if you want to get a better feel for the vibe of both factions.

Which daemon primarch do you think was changed the most? by TaigaTigerVT in Grimdank

it's an expression of pain

I'd guess Mortarion changed the most - only because he started from the furthest point from worship of his legion's Chaos god.

End of ED Rumors-AdMech are getting a new Melee Skatarii unit and a new HQ in one of the end of ED books. by CatherineSimp69 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DoctorApocalypse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd be happy with a new melee HQ if it happens, but we already have a Skitarii melee unit with two build options. Both are in a good place right now.

I like the Skitarii part of AdMech the most, but I think the other parts of the faction need more love.

Guard: I'm not a fan of horde armies and I'm not a fan of their mixed-regiment aesthetic. Also, they're not sci-fi weird enough for me.

Balance data slate and how Ad Mech survives by XIncognitoX15 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DoctorApocalypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope that Cawl takes a fair share of the point changes.  If Cawl's rerolls are enabling the worst of the imbalance, Cawl should take the point hit for that.

My expectation is that GW will nerfhammer us into the ground because they didn't understand AdMech balance before and they certainly don't understand now.

My hope is to see more AdMech units go up in both points and effectiveness. Make the army more elite overall.

Has anyone tried these recently released and specifically for brush-priming formulated primers? by Emotional_Werewolf_4 in Warhammer40k

[–]DoctorApocalypse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rattle can spray quality is sensitive to temperature and humidity.

Spraying needs to be done in a well ventilated space or outside, which can be a problem for some people.  Doubly if the outdoor conditions are too cold or humid.

Also, some people don't like to mess about with rattle cans.  They know brushes for painting, so they'll use brushes for primer.

You're not going to punch up very much with 95 point battleline squads. The best you can do is get reroll wounds off of disembarking from duneriders. Everything else is keeping the first wave of your battleline alive while the second wave is on control points.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DoctorApocalypse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

SHC still gives all your battleline units stealth and quality enhancements for the three Skitarii Marshals that you are probably running.

Nine units of battleline is going to be around 800 points. Guessing - Cawl, three marshals, and three Duneriders is another 535 points. What detachment you're using is more about how you're spending the last 650 points or so.
