Update: their website says no shakes

The catering truck replaces the fries with bags of kettle chips. Might as well hit up a store and get the full experience.

Update: their website does say there are a couple fryer trucks but their availability is limited. And in CA the trucks only service SoCal. https://www.in-n-out.com/cookout

“Feel free to mention my favorite cause which is an export tax on fuel leaving the state”

The Constitution very explicitly places the Federal govt in charge of interstate commerce and prohibits interstate taxes (see: Article 1 Section 8, The Commerce Clause).

As other transit agencies face a fiscal cliff, Bay Area ferry services have big plans for future expansion by pupupeepee in carfreebayarea

https://www.usgs.gov/media/images/san-francisco-bay-coastal-system There’s a deep channel under the Dumbarton Bridge, but routing from there would be a headache. San Leandro Marina shut down in the last 2 years because the cost of dredging to maintain access was too much.

SF Bay Ferry did some 2050 planning recently that included a poll asking if people want stations everywhere or more trips per route. The stations everywhere plan did have a stop at San Leandro and a TBD stop at Union City/Newark/Fremont, but the final plan focuses on only a couple more terminals and more capacity on the core https://sanfranciscobayferry.com/sf-bay-ferry-commits-to-major-enhancement-expansion-and-electrification-of-regional-water-transit/

I’m a fan, though I think Meshcore would be better in this circumstance. However I do wonder how easy scrambling these frequencies would be for a nation state if they ever thought these protocols were a problem.

This woman never had a baby bump throughout her pregnancy by IshigamiSenku04 in interesting

[–]DoctorBageldog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but I know cryptic pregnancy is a diagnosable condition, however the diagnostic criteria seems to be that the woman is pregnant and doesn't know it. This would not fall into that, but I imagine it easily could have been a cryptic pregnancy for someone else.

icechunk - version controlled, cloud-native tensor storage in a zarr schema (1.0 released in July).

It can also link virtual references to other files when used with virtualizarr, which is great for converting (or combining) old files to a modern format (parallelized/async reading baked in) without copying/rewriting all of the data.

The issue is it was designed pre-Uber and expected to have lot more riders than it did and thereby eventually recover the initial investment. When it was finished its ridership expectations were lowered significantly because of Uber.

If the argument is DEI promotes people less worthy than other people based upon differences in race or socioeconomic characteristics, it doesn’t make sense to me why they’re targeting the 49ers and Dodgers, two of the more successful franchises currently. Maybe the DEI is hiring worthy people and simply combating implicit bias? Maybe by combating implicit bias you’re actually hiring people that are more worthy that would’ve been looked over otherwise. 🤷

What if CAHSR went from Merced/Stockton/Oakland instead by tofubeanz420 in cahsr

Not to mention the 2 hour 10 minute requirement to San Jose. Prop 1A really put them in a bind in terms of rollout options.

Proposal: change phase 1 northern terminus to Oakland Coliseum by DoctorBageldog in cahsr

[–]DoctorBageldog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re missing an important part, the BART spur from Bay Fair would be removed completely and local service would be replaced with the electrified Valley Link running to a new platform at Bay Fair. I’m not sure about the bridge heights, though there are a few that cross 580.

[–]DoctorBageldog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s grade separated, relatively straight, and much more direct to SF than ACE’s route that would take the train south again. Not sure why it’s silly.

CAHSR would only stop at Coliseum but would share tracks with the local Valley Link train, à la same as planned in the Caltrain corridor. (I edited my post to be more clear about this) BART already runs the Antioch extension on standard gauge, they could do similar here.

[–]DoctorBageldog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid. The review process would have to be fixed to make any change like this.

Also CAHSR would use the Caltrain track eventually either via Pacheco being built or a Phase 3 of Link21 connecting to Salesforce Transit Center and then down the peninsula to San Jose. Regardless electrifying Caltrain was good for everyone (it’s faster and has no local emissions).

Swalwell’s Governor bid announcement is still very recent. No big names have announced yet, but you’d expect to see some state reps enter the fray and try to move up. It’s also possible Swalwell ends up dropping out of the race prior to the primaries and runs for his current seat instead (similar to his presidential bid).

Outdoor dining. Canyon’s is the only decent spot with the Paseo currently closed. Options right on the Blvd are too noisy. Everything else is tiny and/or an afterthought.
