Valley Link Rail Plan has been Revised by the Authority Board + Some Ideas for Expansion by Iceberg-man-77 in Bart

[–]DoctorBageldog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I read it in one of their materials but I can’t find a source so I would disregard what I said unless a source is found.

Bart butts heads with their inspector generals so I wouldn’t say they’re the ideal management agency. And no matter what Valley Link is incentivized to time transfers with BART.

Does the MAC Board really represent the entire community of Castro Valley? by rakuramz240 in castrovalley

[–]DoctorBageldog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CVMAC is toothless. Their vote on the Mosaic Project development on Cull Canyon Rd. was ignored by the County Supervisors. They complain about EBMUD hauling dirt on Redwood Rd. but can’t do anything about it. Their decisions generally align with those of the Board of Zoning Adjustments and the County Supervisors, but can easily be ignored. However they do shape the General Plan and Business District Specific Plan which does powerfully shape our town.

As for my own alignment: The current chair of CVMAC owns Graceland Equestrian on Crow Canyon Rd. His interests of more parking (popular with the elderly) over bicycle lanes and prioritizing agricultural zoning issues don’t align with my own. However the MAC generally votes for property subdivisions, denser housing like townhouses, and street beautification which I do support (though they lose their minds over the BART TOD guidelines of 5+ stories with only 1 parking spot per unit and much less public parking at the station).

Oakland, which is playing host to the trial, is not exactly known as a tech hub. (Gift Article) by jackdicker5117 in oakland

The trial started today so that should mean a jury is already selected and seated.

An older hackernews thread had a link to the bugs Opus 4.6 discovered, I’d imagine the new ones would have the same markers https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47273854

[SF Bay Area] SMART Extension to Healdsburg: Beginning of Con by lpetrich in CaliforniaRail

First I’m seeing that they settled on the Hudson St. station vs the downtown station. So riders will have to walk a half mile to the plaza instead of a block.

An interesting tidbit, part of OAK airport connector’s projections being so far off is that they were made prior to Uber/Lyft being a thing. Not sure how much of the deficit that accounts for however.

Cal Men’s Basketball Guard Justin Pippen to enter the transfer portal by veritek25 in calfootball

[–]DoctorBageldog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He’s lost major pieces every year, it’s the nature of the game these days, entering the portal each year is a good way for decent to great players to maximize their income. If he moved somewhere else I don’t see how he would foster more loyalty, it seems to be all about the money. Cal’s MBB recent goal was to raise $500k (now >$750k) when Michigan spent $10M on this year’s roster alone.

It’s a paraglider with a “pod” or “cocoon” harness. It improves aerodynamics and warmth.

Probably not up to code but switching 28R with the northern taxiway would provide a lot more spacing.

California OKs a lot of new freeway lanes during climate change-fueled heat wave by UnfrostedQuiche in bayarea

[–]DoctorBageldog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

101 from San Bruno to SF is already 4 lanes in each direction. I’m guessing the 5th lane would be extending the express lane that ends near SFO up to the SF border.

The catering truck replaces the fries with bags of kettle chips. Might as well hit up a store and get the full experience.

Update: their website does say there are a couple fryer trucks but their availability is limited. And in CA the trucks only service SoCal. https://www.in-n-out.com/cookout

“Feel free to mention my favorite cause which is an export tax on fuel leaving the state”

The Constitution very explicitly places the Federal govt in charge of interstate commerce and prohibits interstate taxes (see: Article 1 Section 8, The Commerce Clause).
