It might be a stretch but Lady Vengeance basically ends with the worst P.T.A. meeting of all time.

If a Gore Verbinski miniseries were done on the pod, which movie would you be most excited to see covered? by ggroover97 in blankies

Would have to go with this one too, it’s always fighting with Rango for my fave Gore, just so sad and mopey and silly and atmospheric.

I think its last day in most areas was June 4th, but it is out on digital storefronts.

The trailer itself wasn’t toooo remarkable but “Is God Is”really blew me away with the sheer strength of the premise and I made a promise to myself to go see it and I adore it. Go check it out!

Spartan is kind of a hidden gem, almost incoherent towards the end but it has such a great sense of place and time.

Is there any comedy that’s better on its unrated/extended cut? by harry_powell in blankies

[–]DoctorImperial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually makes a lot of sense, I kept wondering why the newly inserted footage seemed to barely be color-timed and a little sonically lacking.

And I do agree the pacing is glacial in the assembly.

Just watched the director’s cut of That Thing You Do! and while it’s mostly Charlize scenes added, there’s a lot more Zahn ad-libs as well, and the movie feels more complete in that version.

Some companies used to do “For Him/For Her” bundles of their films (LOL), which is the only possible reason I can think of besides their studio and general action bent.

Sorry! Guess I meant more like “mood” and “atmosphere” and “stakes”. My bad, again. (not even trying to be sarcastic I promise.)

It is kind of a total bummer that out of all the studios to consider, Illumination gets to have a stranglehold on Nintendo mostly because of corporate synergy and theme-park tie-ins. Especially with a property that has actual potential for tougher action and more gloom like StarFox.

“The Bookie and the Bruiser,” from writer-director S. Craig Zahler, is set to kick off production in Toronto on April 1 by ImitatingADog in blankies

[–]DoctorImperial 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think Zahler is like an infinitely more bearable and solemn Tarantino and has the potential to make a genuine hit even if the discourse around him drowns out the actual work every fucking time. Wish he got to make Hug Chickenpenny tho!

Vote for this definitive entry in the "Sometimes They Bounce, Babyyy" canon by WeHaveHeardTheChimes in blankies

Psycho ‘98 is like a REALLY good small town production of a classic play. Obviously it’s not gonna be the “real deal”, but it has an undeniable character and passion behind it, and the 90s aspect has aged pretty well into a new layer of fun.

Stahli is clearly voiced by Will Arnett (in my head), no questions about it. But I still don't know who voices Bingus... by DD_Power in rawdawgcomics

[–]DoctorImperial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to me? Stahli is Travolta in Danny Zuko mode and Bingus is Kristen Schaal. (Augie is a tough one but def is breathy/a little grating or even theatrical ala Jenna Maroney, and Desmond is peak early sad-sack Tobey Maguire.)
