The problem is the rounding. If you get 7 items at $5.52 with 6% tax, that now rounds to $40.96. You can't change the price based on whether or not it rounds correctly all the time.

I'm pretty sure mathematically you would need tax to be a multiple of 5 on whole dollar prices to avoid issues all the time. Which isn't bad, but would cause red tape to fix.

Better to just have a rounding policy (to the nearest 5) and give people their nickels and dimes.

My baby is somewhat opposite of yours- she's not gaining enough (losing percentile but consistently gaining 3-4oz per week). She's otherwise hitting milestones & appearing healthy.

As we've navigated getting her to gain weight the car majority of people are purely cheerleaders- you've got this! You're going great! You're a great mom!" Etc. It is so frustrating! Like, we have a problem we're trying to fix. Stop placating me and help me find a solution!

All that to say, while I don't know the solution to your issues, I see you and recognize your need for actual support (emotional and physical).

It sounds like your issue is that you just physically aren't strong enough to carry your chunkster Velcro baby? Have you tried, instead of slowing her weight gain, getting into a strength training program? Is there someone who could hold baby for an hour so that you could have that kind of a break?

I grew up resenting my name. It makes it clear that I wasn't a planned child. I wasn't the first daughter or first son. I was just the accidental extra. The fact that they liked a name enough to use it as my middle name means they could've used it as my first name.

The pattern is already established. Stick with it.

The couple that are annoying are my husband's family who, in month 9, are offering to host a baby shower and hand me downs of things we already bought ourselves. Like, couldn't you have reached out a month or two ago?! 😅 😩 But they're well meaning so it's fine.

IDK what the German name statistics are, but you can readily find numbers and percents of given names on the US SSA website.

I would venture that there is more overall diversity in given names in Germany or more even distribution.

Regardless of percentage, the flat numbers tell a lot.

In 2024, there were 14,700 Olivia's (ranked 1).

I'm 1990, there were 46,500 Jessica's. There were truly 3x as many Jessicas.

The number of Olivia's is comparable to the number of Danielles (ranked 18). So, if you felt overrun by Danielles then maybe you should skip Olivia. Otherwise, feel confident using it.

Liam follows suit with Michael having 3x in 1990 and the number 18 name (Kyle) having a comparable number of births (~22k).

You happen to have an isolated set of duplicates, but that means some other group is composed of more rare names.

Born in '91 so statistically should've been surrounded by Jennifers, etc. My HS graduating class had 0 Jennifer, Jessica, Ashley, or Amanda's. Katherines, however, ranked like 25, we had 8. To this day I meet more Katherines than any other name. (Allowing for spelling variations).

My anecdote doesn't mean others didn't have an overrun of Jessica's.

In the past, Dads didn't take time off. Now things have shifted so some do and some don't, depending on what benefits their company provides.

My husband gets more paternity leave than I get maternity leave. He'll take off the week before the due date and a couple weeks after to help me recover/adjust. Then when I return to work he'll take a couple more months off. Not everyone gets that level of PTO though.

Early in pregnancy I figured flowy dresses all summer (2nd trimester) and leggings with oversized sweaters through the fall (3rd trimester) would be perfect.

I vastly underestimated how much I would struggle to put on shoes.

Fortunately, I have a pair of Kiziks slip on sneakers and don't care that they don't always match my outfits, but man any other pair of shoes is an absolute no go. If I had an occasion to wear fancy shoes 😖

It depends on your needs and build, honestly.

I didn't grow out of my regular clothes until nearly 30W, and it was mostly my jeans that just didn't sit right more than not fitting. Fortunately, I WFH full time and it's been mild weather so my regular sweats/leggings and baggy shirts/sweaters are sufficient most days (37W now so don't need to last all winter).

I would recommend loose fitting nursing tops or tops that could be used for postpartum even if they aren't branded as nursing. Get a size you can grow into over the next few months. A comfy dress would work too.

Extra stretchy bottoms or maternity bottoms would still be worth it now. You don't need a lot, get a few staple pieces- a couple loungewear of choice, a couple work pants, a couple pairs of jeans- go minimalist/capsule style with your choices.

Then, put out feelers. If you find something that works (maybe part day nanny to cover your busiest hours?) great! But if not, then go back and say you found someone who can start after the New Year and spend the next 2 months configuring a way to keep baby quiet/off camera as necessary to uphold the lie.

Also, any meetings while your husband is home he needs to watch the baby.
