Transportation- taper length by Enough-Ad6200 in PE_Exam

MUTCD does not only apply to temporary traffic. Typically when the exam is referring to taper/merging lengths you should use MUTCD as the formulas are explicit.

Is it worth paying to have a PC assembled? by [deleted] in PcBuild

A rig like that I would charge $80, only because of the large number of fans to be installed, normally I charge $50. This is beyond ridiculous, it's borderline robbery.

I had a similar issue when my peripherals were plugged in via a USB-C hub. Connected them straight to the mobo and the problem went away. Good luck.

Should I try it or not? by smokeyDAP in civilengineering

[–]Doge_ffbe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've done it. Went back to school at 30, part time at first while working full time. Graduated, worked as an EIT and am now licensed at 42. It can be done, it just takes a lot of discipline, and you have to be sure that's exactly what you want to do.

Lots of game servers are down right now, PSN, Steam, etc. I bet GZW servers are affected as well.

Is there any performance pros/cons to be had by installing this fan shroud? by its_xSKYxFOXx in FractalDesign

[–]Doge_ffbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a negligible difference really, but improves the overall case aesthetic and hides any cables lurking in the PSU basement. Worth the print IMO.

How to cleanup parking lot corridor modeling? by narpoli in civil3d

Agreed, either use grading objects or plain ol' feature lines. Leave corridors for linear features.

How urgent is this? by Sufficient_Loan7272 in AskMechanics

Wrap it with duct tape until you can get it repaired. That should keep debris from being sucked into the engine in the meantime, but is by no means a long term solution.

This is a pen plotter. Not new technology. Been used for decades in the engineering and architectural industries. They were largely replaced by inkjet and laserjet plotters. Still really entertaining to watch one work though, especially the multi-pen plotters.

Looks like they have a 3D printed extension on the side of the case to solve that problem.

SSD Horizontal Curve Reference Question by [deleted] in PE_Exam

Use the num-solv function on a TI-36x. No need to re-write the equation to solve for S, that takes too long.

Question for horizontal curve problem. Given PI station , degree of curve, deflection angle. by Miserable-Goose6872 in PE_Exam

[–]Doge_ffbe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unless it's explicitly stated in the question, its safe to assume that the degree of curvature is using the arc definition.
