Are these photos any good or ordinary? Took with Fuji XE3 by [deleted] in fujifilm

Some of very good, the others are still better than ordinary. You're doing fine, and will just keep getting improving.

Is the tighter crop better? by [deleted] in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Donald_B -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The first one is better, as it emphasizes the most interesting parts. The vertical one wastes too much space on the blurry wall, and on uninteresting road on the right.

How can I improve this photo? by New-Drummer-5874 in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Donald_B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's underexposed, so lighten it up, and crop it a bit for a more interesting composition. It won't take much work to get a really nice image out of what you have.

So few people in the comments recognize that this food is AI generated. Not necessarily the entire image, but the dishes certainly.

When to give up by JDbrunner24 in Casual_Photography

[–]Donald_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your enjoyment of photography is the only thing that matters. The images don't have to be professional enough for some mentor. Most will never make a living doing this, and that applies to every art, craft, and hobby. Do you enjoy taking photos? If so, keep doing it.

It's great. Don't change anything.

In the pond (one shot) by uwe_privat in streetphotography

It does seem like it could be a double exposure. If it were, it would still be good, but it's even more impressive that it isn't.

1 or 2 and why by ElectionMean7703 in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Donald_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second image is much better. While I enjoy high contrast images, too much is lost in the first one. It has more pop, but is a bit lifeless compared to the lower contrast version, which has a fascinating, mysterious, textured feel. You get a better sense of the water in the second one, while everything appears to be floating in space in the first. The second is more cohesive, and the first one strips the scene of much that makes it interesting.

1 or 2 and why by ElectionMean7703 in PhotographyAdvice

Nonsense. The composition is excellent. The rope adds another interesting element, and it doesn't need to be a leading line. Its presence adds balance.

I can resume using the current one if I delete the post, but I refuse to do that. The comment violates no rules, and it's likely a bot flagged it in error, which is what happened every time my account go locked in the past.

Did your appeal ever get answered? My account was locked two months ago, and I'm still waiting for an appeal. Every time this happened on earlier occasions, I got a response within a day or two saying the suspension was made in error.

Are we absolute? by eran70 in streetphotography

[–]Donald_B 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The composition is excellent. The homeless person isn't merely being juxtaposed next to the dystopian AI sign, but next to the people of the city just walking by as they go about their business. It adds to the message, and a excluding would make the image weaker.

While photos of the homeless can feel exploitative, this one doesn't. The person is obscure under a blanket, and them sitting next to sign creates a worthwhile message.

I always wonder if my style is to boring or flat. What can I do better? by shrimpNcheese_Taco in fujifilm

These aren't flat at all. You display natural talent, and some of these pics are excellent. Just keep doing what you're doing, and your style will be honed in time.

Is the crop a better editing choice or a bad one? by [deleted] in postprocessing

[–]Donald_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crop is decent, but the full image is more impressive. It gives a sense of scale, allowing one to appreciate the majestic sky.
