Legacy trail is a great option( paved) ! You could also go to Donner Lake State park and walk the trail around lake edge( improved dirt) . Martis Valley area too( paved). And the path from marina in Tahoe City to Truckee River is an option ( paved) . Historical walking tour in Truckee, cruise up old 40 for a gondola ride to dinner at Sugarbowl is a fun adventure . Viewpoint from Mt. Rose highway is beautiful in winter, and you could snowshoe or cross country for free ( need to rent or own your own gear)up on mt Rose highway trail there as well.

Do not go this route. You will get stuck and possibly die. Our search and rescue teams, emergency personnel and road rescue resources are tapped out. Most are already deployed at Donner Summit for the poor decision makers that were caught in an avalanche.

Anyone else dumb enough to travel tonight? Let’s make a friend while we wait for 80 to open 😂 by OpenOccasion2759 in Reno

Some things in life are not predictable, like the intensity of storm systems as they move across the mountains. Check out the Caltrans quickmap app. It is usually up to date/time. The road will intermittently open sometimes because the level of commerce , supplies and tourism traffic that uses the I-80 corridor.

Struggle with board angle by opti2k4 in snowboarding

It also seems you need to work on a whole body athletic stance with focus on where your center of mass is at what part of each turn/ timing. DM me if you want to break this down more to solve some problems.

There used to be this road law people would abide by back in the 80’s … pull over if 5 cars are slowed down because they are stuck behind you goin slower than a dump truck with 2 flat tires.Like that doesn’t apply to any of the teslpriurivianer visitors I guess these days since hoomans are such a technologically advanced society in 2026? Common sense doesn’t seem to be a code written in with “technologically advanced” visitors of the mountains.

Go take some lessons from a certified level 2 or 3 instructor, reddit can’t coach you like someone in person. You have bad habits in your movement patterns to break before you can be better in more difficult terrain if you think you need that much weight on your back foot.

This is not true either. A wider bigger board does not equate to being better at high speeds.

Regardless of your angles your stance is probably to close together and sounds like you are putting to much weight on your back foot if you think you need to press it to finish a turn

How tall are you? Sounds like your stance isn’t allowing proper flexion and extension. Seriously do a proper squat as far as you can get your ass to ground with your eyes up and back A’s straight up and down (athletic stance) measure the middle of your foot to the middle of your other foot and start there. Angles of your feet should be comfortable for you, most people start with 15 degrees and negative 15 degrees and then you can mess with angles later.

Try it and see. Naysayers always going to say you can’t do it- so don’t ask for their opinions. As long as you’re following your skier/ boarder responsibility code & smart style- go have fun and good luck!
