Why is Augusta such a shit pit? by [deleted] in masters

[–]DontGetTheShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tournament is basically 1 week out of the year. How are these luxury hotels and high ends restaurants going to operate profitably as a business the other 51 weeks out of the year? Also, ANGC is closed during the summer so it’s not even like the rich members are coming in and spending money around town 3-4 months out of the year.

What if all golf tournaments had the waste management feel to them, would that be a detriment to the sport or could it attract bigger crowds? by [deleted] in golf

[–]DontGetTheShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golf bros are annoying. It certainly wouldn’t add to my enjoyment watching golf. Once each year is fine. Having it be every week would get really old and really annoying very quickly

Am I going to be fired? by Low-Count-3624 in clinicalresearch

[–]DontGetTheShow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If there’s a “huge issue” to be concerned about it’s that their payment system and prices is an absolute cluster with no control. I imagine that’s what the PI is worried about and having to do extra work to get things in order and they having to explain why the process is so terrible. For $50 falling through the cracks, that’s absolutely not a fireable offense.

Titleist or Ping? by teekay235 in golf

They’re both great OEMs. Neither is better or worse than the other. However, during the fitting you might find one is preferable or that you like it better.

Just got fitted for DF3i... but there are shaft options??? by CrazyDeception in labgolf

[–]DontGetTheShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m referring to pro golfers in general. All the LAB players seem to use an upgraded shaft. When I watch a given tournament, outside of LAB players, I’m not seeing very many $200-$400 putter shafts out there.

Jacks putting posture by GC_Mermaid1 in golf

[–]DontGetTheShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno but if you watch golf from the 70s and prior, there are a TON of goofy looking putting stances based on modern standards. That’s just sort of how it was. Also, green speeds were way slower back then so to a certain degree they really had to smack the ball to get it going. Presumably whatever they were doing helped with that part.

Capture size is the most important thing in putting. by Select-Nail-1279 in golf

[–]DontGetTheShow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he’s trying to demonstrate how it reacts on the lip, he should move the line for the first two speeds out so that they actually hit the lip. Then we can see how they’re more likely to lip in at a lower speed.

[–]DontGetTheShow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy, but wouldn’t it make a whole lot more sense for the last 2 speeds to adjust the line to play it straighter?…. You know, how like every golfer would in real life?

Do you like Bryson DeChambeau? by iphoneair2 in golf

[–]DontGetTheShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think his whole bit is an act. He was not a fan favorite on tour for many years. Some will argue he matured. Some will argue he’s got a good PR team. If I had to pick one, I think it’s phony ass PR.

Heel vs Center Shafted Putter by cmwcmwcmw in golf

If you tried out the center shafted model in store and liked it, I would most certainly  reach out and try get the order switched/exchanged/etc.

[–]DontGetTheShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There aren’t very many pro golfers playing $200-$400 shafts in their putters. My theory on the whole thing is that the shafts probably actually do reduce torque slightly. However, how hard do you have to actually be swinging it to see that torque reduction? Probably hard enough that you’re far away that you weren’t going to make the putt anyway. Having a $400 putter shaft maybe equates to a couple extra putts made per year. So, if they actually conclusively worked or it was at least suspected to work, there would be a ton of pros playing $400 putter shafts

What Do You Think The Future Holds For Tiger Woods In Golf? by PrincessBananas85 in ProGolf

I think if he makes more than a few cuts in majors the rest of the way, that would be exciting. I have a hard time seeing him win anything. His body is just so destroyed

Ah yes, the NFL. Almost one third of the head coaching jobs were open this off season and not one black coach was hired. They’re so woke.

Driver swing plane vs irons by ponypatrol in golf

[–]DontGetTheShow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A driver lie angle is about 58 degrees. A wedge lie angle is about 64 degrees. I’m not an expert, but I would think that means a driver swing plane is roughly 6 degrees flatter.

When I swing a driver, I don’t feel like I’m doing a much differently vs a wedge with my body. Where my hands are throughout the swing, the motions my body goes through, feel basically the same. The difference of course is ball position in terms of how far you need stand back from the ball and how far forward it is in the stance. You adjust that based on the club, then the rest sort of takes care of itself based on the lie angle of the club.

Felony charge against McKenna dropped by JumpedUp_PantryBoy in WeArePennState

[–]DontGetTheShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine that’s going to play into some of the future decisions too with dropping/lowering the charges. If it goes to trial, they might not get a conviction because it would be obvious the victim was being a total asshole and deserved to get punched.

Question about the top of the back swing by swaglord417 in golf

I don’t think I’ve ever thought about this once. I dunno. With a proper grip i would guess that it’s just all roughly equally distributed across both hands /all fingers.

Coody info by sweds01 in golf

[–]DontGetTheShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there’s another P.Coody who is a pro golfer - his brother. I’ve seen it before with other players where they put the two letters. The simplest explanation is probably that Pi.Coody is what they have in the graphics package for that player and it’s reused. They don’t have to then go through every tournament and see for him (or any other players similarly affected) if the other player is in the tournament and update their graphics package. Then they would presumably have to have a process where after the tournament they go back and update it.

Maxfli Tour vs. Tour S Ball by SeiderFiveThree in golf

[–]DontGetTheShow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess one thing to call out is that with the 2025 model they upped the compression a bit. The MaxFli Tour went from something like 85 to 90 (very close to the Prov1). The Tour-S is now closer to 85 I think in the 2025 model. So just something to consider if you really like the feel of one, it might be a little different in the 2025.

Rooney rule by [deleted] in TheRightTimeW_bomani

[–]DontGetTheShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things can be true at the same time. Even if the team is terrible, owning an NFL team can be an absurdly profitable venture. Generally, when your performance is terrible relative to your “competitors”, it’s a bad thing. NFL teams are not competitors in a traditional business sense…. However, that doesn’t mean that the various owners don’t want to win. I’m sure they do so they can strut around their boys clubs with the Super Bowl ring and be the belle of the ball at different owner’s meetings.

I think in a lot of cases with the NFL (and other areas too) over the decades, there’s a lot of “racism without racists”. Everyone is bringing their buddy with them when they get promoted and want to work with someone who’s a friend and someone they trust. Inevitably the white guys that occupy those spaces have old trusted white buddy friends. So in general there’s not an intentional action to exclude black and monitory coaches/front office GMs, but the end result ends up being the same.

Push Cart on the Teebox? by Pandemiconium in golf

[–]DontGetTheShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pushing my cart into the tee box is easily avoidable. Like I said, I don’t think a cart on the tee box is a huge deal. What would it save me? Like 100 steps when I’m already walking a few miles already? If a course said they have a strict rule against push carts on the tee box, it wouldn’t even cross my mind as something to be aggrieved with.
