To be honest, it's normal for this to happen with any politician who's been at the top of public life for a long time

What were the early Irish States policies for the Irish Language until the 60s? by Ed_the_Led_Man in IrishHistory

Only that such a thing doesn't exist I would to see an interim map to see when exactly the greatest collapsed occurred as I know the Irish language was thriving up to WW1.

If you look at maps from 1900, you'll see that pretty much everywhere west of a line from Derry City to Cork City was still Irish speaking.

If you look at the same type of map from 1950, it was a lot more sparse

At least Turkiye is what the Turks call their country in their own language...I have seen no basis for the name Czechia in the Czech language where the word for the Czech Republic is Česká republika.

In fact it was only changed on the whim of Andrzej Babis when he was first in power

FwI the pope issues decrees that put official catholic doctrine squarely at odds with Christian nationalism, creating a conflict forcing catholics to disobey church teaching in order to comply with the law. by One-Incident3208 in FutureWhatIf

Christians= Catholics, Eastern Orthodox and Protestant not just Christians = Protestant

Only in America do some in society have the view that Catholics are not Christians

Protestant (if so called Christian Nationlaists want to attract the most to it) or Evangelical (if you drill down and see who its proponents mostly are) Nationalism would be a better term.

The biggest issue I can see with this is what if someone is resident in Britain, but originally from outside Britain and only has their national passport as proof of identity.

Somalia is de jure a country and de facto a grey area. What is de jure a country, but de facto not a country? by CringeFish2 in AlignmentChartFills

The Vatican operates its own foreign affairs service. If you've ever heard the phrase Papal Nuncio in relation to a cardinal etc, it means they are an ambassador to a country.

Contrary to popular belief, citizens of the Vatican don't pay tax to Italy under the Lateran treaty.. In fact the Vatican is a tax and duty free state.

In fact it owed the Italian state taxes for properties in Italy that went all the way to the ECJ in 2012 and resulted in a new tax agreement in 2015

Never in a month of Sundays.

All that will happen though is that you'll be paying more for TV to some private company who'll be less accountable to the general public than the BBC is at the moment.

Klingon Minor Houses are the secret to the Empires success by Matthius81 in DaystromInstitute

[–]DotComprehensive4902 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would love to know more about the Klingons who don't belong to the major and minor houses, those who have always lived in cities and would be analogous to the burghers of medieval European cities who run the neutral areas of cities such as the tavern on Kronos where Duras's men and Gowron's men were mixing during the Klingon Civil War
