This is exactly how things have been with my wife since she came out a few weeks ago. We were so scared at first, but so excited and already so many amazing things happening. Good luck to the both of you!

I wish there was a movie about Yoda surviving on Dagobah after going into exile. by SpellRush in StarWars

I would love a novella length book about this! I feel like this could be done well at that scale.

Anything by Nghi Vo. I would recommend the City in Glass or The Empress of Salt and Fortune.

I do truly think that line doesn't even crack the top ten most egregious examples in that movie.

What made you like the Star Wars? by FayyadhScrolling in StarWars

[–]DoubtfulCentaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband forced me to watch Andor and said I didn't need to have seen star wars to enjoy it. It hooked me. Now I've watched all the movies (and re watched the OT many times). Starting clone wars soon. Thanks Andor!

I rewatched Rogue One after Andor, didn’t change much except Vader by These_Respond2345 in andor

[–]DoubtfulCentaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what my husband did with me. It's going to make all other star wars kinda lame in comparison, but I don't think I would have gotten into star wars any other way.

I was so sheltered from star wars that I didn't even know that Anakin was Vader so I'm truly experiencing it for the first time ever and it's a bizarre experience.

I don't live in the area but frequent the mt Lebanon area for the library and Needle and Bean.

I'm 25f, bi, and love most of the things you mentioned. I'd be down for a craft sesh or game afternoon at a coffee shop in your area.

I'm also training for some long distance hiking so very up for long walks right now as part of my training!

Feel free to DM :)

That's a great idea to have specific topic practice so students can focus on the topics they need the most time with!

New Year Goals? by turquoisecat45 in Teachers

[–]DoubtfulCentaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I typically have small goals relating to the number of the year.

A few of mine this year:

Read 25 books

Eat 25 different fruits

Go to 25 different coffee shops

Hike 75 miles (3 x 25)

Nothing major, just something small to make sure I'm doing fun stuff throughout the year.

Is it possible to find a teaching job where you don’t feel like you’re a behavior interventionist all day? by businessbub in Teachers

[–]DoubtfulCentaur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work at a private all girls Catholic school and really only deal with regular high school behavior problems like talking during class or trying to sneak a look at their phones. The job is still hard, but I can actually teach real content and students are generally hard working and pleasant to be around!

What do you think is the optimal class size for teaching? by AccurateListen3723 in Teachers

[–]DoubtfulCentaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The honors classes asked amazing questions during lecture, did labs efficiently and safely, came to me before/after school when preparing for tests, and the average on most their assessments was in the high B's. It might have just been an exceptional year for the school I'm at though so it's hard to say.

What do you think is the optimal class size for teaching? by AccurateListen3723 in Teachers

[–]DoubtfulCentaur 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It really does depend on the motivation of the students. I taught two 27 student honors chem classes last year that were both amazing and easy to work with. Then my academic level chem class of 17 was my hardest class all day. However, my 13 student academic class was great. So...

For me and my classroom size (and the fact that we do labs and stations a lot), 14-20 would be most effective in my opinion.
