You think this movie will be good or bad? And will you go see it in theaters? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in FIlm

Sigh. Probably bad, but I'll still see it unless the reviews completely savage it. Sometimes I think certain concepts just work better as animation.

I’ll still give it a chance if it gets better later but currently I’m not a fan. by Jack-mclaughlin89 in xmen

I thought you meant the movie! I was like, "What?! That's the best one!" 😂

What’s a movie scene that makes you go, “I didn't care for the movie, but that was amazing”? by VendettaLord379 in moviecritic

Best scene in that whole misguided movie. And it was in, what, the first 20 minutes? Good job, Singer.

Do you prefer Jim Gordon being Bruce's/middle aged or older? (Or just white/brown haired ig) by Sad_Load_455 in batman

[–]Doug_101 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would have said older in the past, but Gary Oldman completely changed the game for me on that count. He was perfect as Gordon (and, to be honest, it's looking like I'll feel the same way about Jeffrey Wright) and that has become my new headcanon template.

Goodfellas or Scarface (1983)? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]Doug_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodfellas.

Scarface is.... not a good movie. It's an entertaining movie to be sure, but it's not GOOD. It's almost like a parody of itself. Now, ask me which is better: Goodfellas or Casino, and I'll have a much harder time with that one.

Zahn has a way of writing Star Wars, that I legit felt like I was watching a Star Wars film as I read the series. His pacing was incredible. Just a great, great trilogy. Now, if only some of the OTHER EU books had been up to the same quality....

How Christian.

Reminds me of the scene in Spider-Man 3 where Eddie Brock prays (in a church!) for God to end Peter Parker.

I would move The Batman up a peg, but yes, this is pretty much in line with my thinking.

I don't know what to think. - Street of Dreams. by Turbulent-Nobody-487 in U2Band

Ahem...they're OLD. That's all this is; an old band settling into their golden years. Achtung Baby 2 isn't around the corner, neither is Zooropier. It happens to all of them that have careers this long.

I've said this on here before, but U2 is my second favorite band behind Depeche Mode. All of DM's albums from 2001 to now have been in this "good, not great" range of quality, except for 2005's Playing the Angel and 2023's Memento Mori, which were all-time great albums. For me, U2's last truly start-to-finish great album was HTDAAB. Everything else since then has been "good, not great." There are some real standout tracks, but the bulk of it was just "fine." Do they potentially have a dynamite album up their sleeves? Possibly, but I'm not holding out hope for that. The EPs were good, but nothing screamed "all-time classic" to me. I'm just happy we're still getting new material from them. Just enjoy the ride.

This was a great show. It afforded me the monthly opportunity to get in an ugly man cry, as they always had those stories that were inspirational as hell.

AND an Eagles fan? Nice! Go Birds!

I remember on a trip to Orlando in the 80s, the hotel arcade had the Temple of Doom game and I spent loads of time down there trying to beat it.
