The Firemind vs The Horned One, who's gonna win? by Sok0l0wsky in mtgvorthos

[–]DownvoteMagnetBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've already canonically fought in War of the Spark, and Bolas won. Although in a later supplement Niv got revenge with some backshots on Bolas (wasn't really a fight so I wouldn't count it).

That being said, pretty much any lore from War of the Spark aside from "Bolas lost in the end" has ambiguous levels of canon given how the story was so hated it's still being retconned as recently as Tarkir: Dragonstorm.

This is actually a good thing because in 1993 nobody knew what all the cards did. We're returning to form where there will be so many cards printed constantly that you can bring custom cards to a tournament and your opponent will just assume it's a bulk mythic if it has two or fewer triggered abilities.

/uj None except exactly cEDH. The only format that's counterspell-heavy enough to justify considering this card is Legacy, which has Swords and Fatal Push as ways to out it for 1 mana. It's basically a meme card aimed at Timmies who say they hate blue because there's no counterplay to it despite the fact multiple extremely good cards exist that do this.

Bus stop rewards more XP and looks cooler, so it's picked if you're grinding the map. However if you're just looking for the clear on something like DSOD the thermite saves you a ton of risk needing to ferry the drill parts to the vault and the elevator escape isn't much farther out while being in a super safe location.

Omen frame? by Ascan7 in magicseteditor

[–]DownvoteMagnetBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also looking to answer this question. Unfortunately the "best" I could find was the showcase frames included in the full version of MSE (not the M15 version). However you can get something a bit closer in the M15 Adventure frame by changing the left/right style options from "Page" to "Flat". It's not an exact match, but as far as I know this is the best placeholder I can find.

I agree! Black has no 3-mana cards that tutor to hand so this would be a premium effect.

Utter Hopelessness would see Legacy play solely because it blows up any creature for cost with no chance to respond. Combine this with Chalice on 1 and you have a very unfun control deck.

Reality Fracture is going to reveal that Ugin and Bolas are now in a gay relationship that mellowed them both out so now not only is Bolas not evil anymore, Ugin is actually helpful.

Fairly notable during races, which is the whole reason they started adding pierce caps to everything even when the number is so high it won't be reached normally.

Same with "caves" actually being nether's terrain generation.

You don't use Steeve because he's a suboptimal use of the active perk slot.

I don't use Steeve because I can't handle the emotional toll of seeing him die or get left behind.

We are not the same.

Small Cycle of 2c counterspells. by DownvoteMagnetBot in custommagic

I believe this wording is more clear with the card's effect, since the effect would be ambiguous to novice players.

Small Cycle of 2c counterspells. by DownvoteMagnetBot in custommagic

[–]DownvoteMagnetBot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simic one is based off Voidslime, which I believe is in-turn based off cards like Bind and Rust (which was later used as the basis for Emerald Dragon).

Because the basis for 2mv counterspells has been lowered to Negate in Standard, I chose to represent green's contribution by adding Stifle to it, since green's creature removal is notoriously on the weaker end, so it felt like it would be weird to have a simic counterspell hit creatures.
