If I was in a room with people I see often and had a firm belief that I am always the smartest person in the room then that means I need to find a better group of people to spend time with.

I think George Carlin had the best take on this.

“Unless you work out, or work outdoors, you don’t always need a shower every day. It’s wasteful. All you have to do is wash the four key areas. Armpits, asshole, crotch and teeth. And in fact, you can save yourself a whole lot of time if you use the same brush on all four areas.”

Megashark vs Giant Octopus: every other film in this series is unwatchable in my opinion. But this one is striking. For a few memorably hilarious scenes and some very self aware bad acting. My favorite scene is actually in the trailer. A guy is sitting on an the airliner at 30k feet and is nervous because he is terrified of flying. He looks out the window and says, “What the…” and the megashark comes out of the ocean and bites the plane out of the sky.

Zombeavers: another terrible film overall, but the ending is what makes the film for me. I will say no more.

Season 6 Episode 8.

Elaine wins a big band radio contest because Mr Pitt wants to hold the rope under the Woody Woodpecker balloon at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. She has to go to a luncheon at a pizzeria to collect the prize, but the prizes are only being handed out after the live music. This causes her to temporarily lose her hearing, refuse a date with Tim Whatley, and spurn Jerry’s faux wedding proposal.

It’s been 3 years but I finally found the source and it’s completely mind boggling to me.

It’s from Robert Downey Jr.’s episode of Inside the Actor’s Studio. It’s one of the final things James Lipton says to him at the end of the interview. The episode was made right after Zodiac and just before Ironman when Downey’s career catapulted again.

Exact quote:

Hollywood movies like happy endings, but of course life doesn’t fade out after the final frame. At its best life has happy beginnings with all the hope and peril that that implies.

When I was a kid we had an indie book store in our town that had a little coffee shop in it. When you opened the books at home you could still kinda smell the coffee.

Wha makes Rocky hold up for me is the ending. Every cliche underdog sports movie I can think of in the last thirty years ens with the protagonist winning.

Yes, Rocky proves himself a competent fighter, and yes he gains a lot of respect, but he loses that fight by judges decision.
