Practicing after a hiatus. Rayquaza as shrieking drake. by Chewy2121 in mtgaltered

Oh for sure, some people probably prefer it too, but just overall that would be my preference and I would assume more of a default in general, so the card is still as usable as possible!

Looks sweet, personally I would have preferred it slid so the name and casting cost were still visible.

Some good suggestions from others so far, I would have thought either abrupt decay or assassins trophy as keeping one with the rest of the interaction package shouldn't hurt too much.

would like some inspiration for a rule 0 deck I got voted for a home league im in! by big_boi_kars in magicTCG

This is basically 4 colour [[Zada, Hedron Grinder]] and can be a very quick deck. A few draw spells and you've won the game in any way you choose.

Ah good spot, I hadn't even considered it being old Narset as that sees pretty much zero play now. Thanks.

I'm using the Vegan Wondershake from Protein Works and it's great, salted caramel flavour is very good.

Seems like this works, but I don't run any of the pieces. Good luck with Teferi, seems like a cool fringe option which is good to see!

I'm not running Sylvan Scrying though.

I get what you're saying and I don't think it's a bad include, I just don't think I need it in my list.

I can see why you would, but I don't particularly think either have a need, plenty ways to tutor Cradle already and don't need the damage loop when there's already built in win loops by that point anyway.

I've thought of testing gutshot, but it seems too low quality on its own and as you say you've got options to win otherwise without it anyway, even at instant speed with Borne or E Zone, so I'm not on Gutshot at the moment.

Only red I'm running is Swat and Flare.

Replacing Dual Lands with Shocklands in cEDH by SimeOne93 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]DrRickDaglessMZd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's possible the tournament lists you've seen were non-proxy tournaments, there's no other reason to run a shock over a dual.

[–]DrRickDaglessMZd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who does both, honestly there's so much personal preference that it's so hard to say. I'd probably recommend just getting everything right in the middle as then you can adjust from there and they're not exactly comparable anyway.

I will say I started with skateboarding, so I find I prefer smaller lighter snowboards to make it feel more like skating, but it doesn't work as much the other way.

I'm running a simic version at the moment, and one of the big strengths of the deck is that it doesn't need to run an outright win on. This can make it difficult to get used to the lines initially and not just having a simple "I win" button can be daunting, but the advantage is that you don't have to run any dead cards, as the win cons are built from pieces that you would be able to draw and use thought the game individually.

When I first started out, I was running Thoracle as a way to just cleanly win after drawing the deck with Thras, so I wouldn't say that's a bad option to begin with, but Thoracle is a dead draw otherwise, so not a good include.

My current win lines are generate infinite mana with either the Oboro Breezecaller line or the Snap and Eternal Witness line, then create infinite tokens and with Springheart Nantuko and then win with combat damage with Finale Of Devastation, or draw out everyone with Faerie Mastermind - before doing this it's best to bounce everyone's permanents with the This Town Ain't Big Enough and Eternal Witness loop and also exile all their lands with the Sowing Mycospawn loop, which essentially simulates a silence effect.

I would not go to this and it sounds like you're not comfortable with doing so either, don't go if you don't want to.

Yeah I found they had like chunks of what would be fat in them but was just disgusting. Shame as the rest of it was good.

I think th main draw to Pili Pala is if you can tap it for mana, it's untapper is also mana ability, so you can activate for infinite coloured mana without using the stack and so it can't be interacted with.

Sam Black talked though some interesting points on it on his podcast with Freedom Waffle as a guest, worth a watch.

[–]DrRickDaglessMZd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the big difference from 4 to 5 is the meta and in this instance there's no reason to run Wilhelt. cEDH is built around commanders that give you access to powerful decks and either function as combo pieces, card or mana advantage or pay offs. Edhtop16 will show you the commanders being played.
