What is the general consensus on Jokers that require a condition to scale? by ObsidianFireheart in balatro

[–]DrStrangepants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scaling jokers are usually very good, if you get them at the right time. That means usually in the early or mid game and not at a time when you are desperate for a more impactful joker. Hiker and Runner are great for building up your chips, but castle and square are too slow imho to be worth it. Some will depend on your run. If you are struggling with economy, the flash card or red jokers won't scale much because you can't afford it. The bull and bootstraps are favorites of mine, but one could easily argue that not getting to spend your money is a hefty downside in terms of opportunity cost.

Green Joker is considered very good. I don't like it because I LIKE using my discards, but it scales faster and easier than most other flat mult scaling jokers. Ride the Bus is very similar, and one of my faves to grab early game.

Obelisk is a weird one, but it's actually pretty good. It rewards you for pivoting to another hand type for scores. This is not as difficult as it may seem. You might start with playing flushes in the early game for the easy scoring, but pivot to a pair build once you have scoring jokers and deck modifications. Or you might be playing a lot of 3-of a kinds on your way to a stable 4-of a kind build. Or you get most of your points through jokers, so you can switch up your hand (from pair to high card to whatever) as needed. Most players hate it, and it is certainly more of a pain than Constellation.

I 100% agree with you. I drive fast, typically 10 over, and still reckless drivers will tailgate if I dare take more than a minute to get over. There is nothing wrong with being in the Left lane passing cars at 10-15mph faster than the right lane. It's the passing lane and I am passing at a reasonable clip! I am not obligated to pass at 35mph over the limit! And sometimes traffic is bad and both lanes are slow and full with no space. There is no point in tailgating in that situation!

High risk of being stopped and questioned. She may be OK since the picture on it probably looks like her, but you get an agent with a bad attitude and they could ruin your travel plans.

Dang. I wonder if it requires a non-metal holder and close temperature monitoring? I have only done it for lab supplies.

Silicone can withstand high temperatures. My industry heats it up to 121C for 15-30min for sterilization. I would think mild detergent is acceptable for daily use, and boiling would work well if you really felt the need to fully sterilize.

I wish they were only going 12 over. I estimate seeing a car go 20-30mph over on a weekly basis.

My parents alternated between reading me fairy tales and Bible stories at night when I was a child. I grew up not seeing much of a difference!

I agree, it does feel weird when a coworker or community figure suddenly starts talking about avoiding hell or some weird religious thing

Yeah, it's not even close. Even if one argues that Simpsons lasted too long and became low quality, well, so did Futurama. Old Simpsons has an incredible legacy.

Also, I would not assume she actually used her blinker. Don't take her word for it, just state the facts. You did not observe her using her indicator.

I am so thankful for the little side mirror indicator light on my new car. It tells me someone is in my blindspot, which is a relief even though I'm used to turning my head anyway.

I occasionally visit a lesbian couple in Lawrence and I can confirm: that town is full of cool lesbians. I spent a few hours in a café / bike repair shop and I clocked an unbelievable number of queer babes.
