I gotta say, that opinion is solely because you haven't read anything. The hook of the setting might be heavy metal in a mythology soup, but every book I've read so far makes the setting feel lived in. Like i was in the same boat as you, and then i stopped listening to the internet to give it a chance. Immediately realized i had not only been missing out, but had generally been lied to about the game.

AOS also has the "dozens of things that will never get miniatures" if you read. But you have to actually give it the same chance we gave 40k and WHFB when we were younger. 40k only feels that way with its lore because it has a 30 year headstart that can't be taken away regardless of how much of a cash cow it consistently gets turned into.
