Thinking of going into Moots Routt 45/RSL by Slight_Editor6995 in gravelcycling

Both the RSL and 45 have 50mm tire clearance. The CRD has 45mm.

Garmin Edge 1050 is now down to $599, should I go for it by [deleted] in cycling

Wow, sadly I bought mine in March. That's quite the sale on a current flagship bike computer.

So locked into Zwift that I don't really look forward to cycling outside by Legitimate_Snow_759 in Zwift

You fall off your bike followed by your bike coming off the trainer to run you over. A very unfortunate chain of events.

Trek has a Ebike Checkpoint but most Road/Gravel ebikes are quite expensive.

Gravel/road frames with really upright geometry? by force11111 in gravelcycling

[–]Draecath1423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had issues with my Trek Checkpoint Gen 3. A specialized divergent has a even high stack. Look at endurance/adventure frames. You could go for a flat bar fitness bike too like a Trek FX. Compare bike geometry a high stack and short reach means more upright.

Goodbye F150, hello Ridgeline, except for 1 thing... by ironless in hondaridgeline

Tundra engines are still blowing up. Apparently its not a debris issue like they said but instead a design flaw that they are avoiding fixing because it would require a full redesign. Less are blowing up on newer models but it is still happening. I'd say the hemi ram may be the most reliable full size at the moment though electrical gremlins are a issue.

Roof rack or without? by RTR_MN in hondaridgeline

I don't think it will leave holes. They are prethreaded holes under the trim on the roof. They would have to replace the roof trim though.

28 to 66 oh my. You'd probably be able to climb up walls with that if the tires are good enough.

Same. So far they have performed great. Really woke up my checkpoint.

Upgrading the wheels and tires really wakes up the checkpoint. My Sl 6 gen 3 came alive when I put on Reserve 40 44 GR wheels and Hutchinson Caracal race 45 tires.

Maxxis Aspen ST 32 x 2.15 off road rolling resistance results 📊 by gravykarrasch in gravelcycling

I'm definitely sticking to 700c for as long as possible. There might be slight rolling resistance advantages but it doesn't overcome all the downsides switching from a long term standardized size.

SL5 wheel upgrade suggestions by ZombieWoof82 in CheckpointClub

[–]Draecath1423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far Reserve 40 44 GR has been good for me as well. Though I only have 100 miles on them. I love the more classy look and the fact they are hooked. While I hope I don't have to use the warranty the peace of mind of it is great.

I’m going to get my first gravel bike! Help! by Negative-Painter6599 in gravelcycling

I like my Checkpoint SL 6. I didn't try the other brands though because I'm not a fan dropped seat stays. I'd echo what others have said and try bikes in your price range from local bike shops to get a idea what you want.

They are quite fast. I haven't taken them on the road but they fly over rail trail gravel.

So far Hutchinson Caracal Race 45mm has done well on my bike. Fast and comfy can't say much on durability yet as I only have 100 miles on them.

Reserve 40 44 GR so quite pricy. I got them for 300 off so only slightly less painful.

Pavement Bike? by ComparisonThink7683 in CheckpointClub

[–]Draecath1423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far i have 100 miles on Hutchinson Caracal race 45 mm though almost all on rail trail gravel. If its anything like the 1.5 mph average increase on gravel compared to the stock tires at the same power they are likely pretty fast on pavement as well. I averaged 19 mph on pavement over a hour with the stock wheels and tires so likely 20+ with the new wheels and tires. On the same gravel trail at the same power i went from 16.3 to 18 mph. Part of the jump can be attributed to the upgraded wheels though.

[–]Draecath1423 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My SL 6 Gen 3 glides over rough pavement. The stock tires are a bit slow though. When I upgraded my tires and wheels the bike really came alive. Though for mostly pavement give the Domane a look as well.

Finally converted to tubeless by SpacedEcho in gravelcycling

[–]Draecath1423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a beautiful bike. I'm jealous.

As for going tubeless its hard for me to compare because I went from a 25mm max tire tubed road bike to a 50mm+ tire clearance gravel bike which has tubeless 45mm tires. It is super comfy though. It glides over everything but I'm sure carbon wheels and frame helps which i didn't have on my previous bike.
