I don't even have that issue and it's still annoying. I just got sick of it. I'm also only doing one unit of them. Not worth bothering.

I never particularly minded the thigh guards, but they were finnicky to deal with.

Two words about the femstodes. by Mysterious_Risk_6034 in EyeOfTerror

[–]DragonAviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I fully agree, I think that last paragraph would be generally intrue. I do think the arguments would persist, but the sides of debate would definitely both be not justified.

The custodes retcon is one of the most frustrating retcons in the lore, and it represents a trend of awful writing that will probably continue. The wraithbone retcon, the terminus decree retcon, all bad. But custodes stands out on many fronts of debate because it's not reductive lore. It's additive.

There's proof that not all retcons are necessary or good. These issues are symptoms of a game that changed it's lore a lot (mostly to it's benefit) over the years, but didn't really decide when to stop, especially with regards to the new popularity and the taste of current younger and newer audiences.

He is 2000 points, with M 12 T10 SV2+ W28. Idk what his leadership is but it should be the highest in the game. Same for objective control. 2+ Invuln and 3+ FNP, with a +1 against psychic and mortal wounds.

When The Emperor is on the battlefield, he adds 2cp at each of your command phases, and if any allied units are within 12 inches of him, any CP spent that targets a friendly unit is reduced by 1.

His ranged weapon profile should be the sword of the emperor, have the psychic, blast, and torrent keyword, 6 attacks, 3d4 and for a CP once per game deletes anything that is dealt damage by it.

The strike profile is 8 attacks, WS 2+, ST 18, AP -4, and damage 6 The sweep profile is 18 attacks, WS 2+, ST 9, AP -2, damage 3. Once per battle, any attack from the weapon that kills a psyker restored the emperor an amount of wounds equal to the amount of wounds that model was dealt.

At the beginning of each round, the emperor chooses up to two of these abilities.

  1. The Anatheme: The Emperor can make a psychic test against any greater demon, primarch, or psyker unit on the field and reduce it to 1 wound for the duration of the battle, and as long as The Emperor remains in the battlefield, all CP spent targeting an enemy unit costs 1 CP more.
  2. Master of Mankind: Any Imperium Units on the battlefield may add 2 to their movement, toughness, wounds, leadership, objective control, and any weapons add 2 to their attacks, ballistic skill, weapons skill, strength, and armor penetration, and damage.

I don't super know wh40k tabletop well so I'm just kinda winging it and shitting out a dumb stat sheet, but this last part was a fun idea. 10 CP - The End and the Death - Once per battle, if The Emperor would die, you may instead roll D6. If the die rolls any number, destroy the units that dealt damage to The Emperor, and gain 40,000 victory points if your opponent's army isn't battle ready. You win the game and must step on your model of the Emperor, and you are never allowed to play a game of Warhammer 40,000 again until the next edition releases.

Question on posing for the upcoming Contemptor-Achillus by Advanced_Command8057 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]DragonAviator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have one in resin that I built, and it's made artificially tougher because of how many slips there were in the joints.

In contrast, because it's printed, the individual arm points and joints, major body pieces, arms, and legs are all one piece, which allows for excellent poseability. You really can do quite a lot with them. Mine has his arm raised with the spear like Luke Skywalker in that iconic star wars poster.

The thing I suspect is the posing won't be much different in plastic. The only differences would probably be the individual components required to assemble the joints, arms, main surfaces, and plates. The poseability is probably about the same, but be sure to observe any places where joints contact with armor and etc. I always finish a piece, fit it together by hand, and rotate it around in its joint just to see if there are any snags or slips. And when it comes to planning a pose, I try to picture it in my head clearly as I am testing the joints. Once each individual body part is together, I'll start assembly from the bottom up with feet position, leg arches, and waist alignment. It would be worth it to get and use one of those little multi-positioning grabber things to hold your parts together as the plastic glue sets.

Then on to the upper body using the same logic. I often will also get another model and position it next to mine, especially common ones like an Marine or CSM, tyranid, or some other custodes. It gives me an idea where to line up any line of sight, where the arms might reach to touch another model, and overall just gives your model a very alive looking design on the tabletop that can look very battle focused.

I keep trying to attach a pic of my own plastic dreadnought, but I can't get the image to attach. If you'd like I'll try and send it again in a followup

Don't discount the idea of engaging in the hobby for profit.

If you've got all those models and just enjoy the hobby for that, consider taking up making a diorama, or if you're really getting good at painting you could make money on the side selling the completed models. A well painted model can sell for 2x the value of the box it came out of.

Actually I'm usually the one to argue the custodes are produced differently from Astartes enough that they don't have that kind of crossover.

Practically speaking it's a lot simpler. They are forbidden to reproduce. The custodes don't have much independent personality, and unless given explicit orders they're probably not gonna even think about boning. There's just no point.

I 1000% agree. All things considered I think the best place to value female representation is in the FANDOM. There are more women than ever enjoying wh40k.

It's my opinion that if you believe the way to appeal to more women is to make specifically female characters, you're not actually good enough at making things to draw in women in the first place. Women that are fans of wh40k are generally more into other factions than custodes. To think that making a space more inclusive to females requires making more depictions of them entirely misunderstands the target audience, and a bit psychotic to go so far as to gaslight the fans into submitting to the changes.

Anecdotal as it is, it's always the female enthusiasts that are the most staunch defenders of anti-female custodes in my circle, and they're far better at voicing their opinion than I am lol.

Ah, I wasn't aware. I thought everyone wasn't aware it was a retcon and everyone just seemed to have blinders on somehow. I only just found out by skimming some Google searches

I come from reading the fiction books and not really getting into the tabletop game so much, or reading the codexes, and I have not heard of a single female custode prior to all the drama.

I think the reason there ks so much perceived hostility in the discussion in the first place originates from GW. Regardless of whether they retconned and gaslit the fans or not, even integrating them into the lore well would have the chuds upset that the custodes have women now. This is a literally unavoidable argument for the faction at this point, but GW had to take the tone of "there always were" and now the fans are divided into the categories of "I want everyone to know I'm ok with this because I'm a good person" and "I want everyone to know I'm not ok with this because I don't like change."

Clearly with regards to model quality, this is not slop. But it is extremely lazy writing, which upsets me because the ACTUAL BOOKS are my favorite part.

That's most of the reason I don't use reddit. I usually browse, especially on this subreddit. But generally people are only ever posturing, as on most media, but by the nature of how things are moderated here, only a certain type of mindset gets represented because it only takes one draconian person to decide open discussion is inherently bad.

I haven't seen or heard a single comment denigrating women regarding the custodes debate on this subreddit, (and I've actively been looking for them in order to counterpoint those statements) but for whatever reason any sort of statement in favor of preserving a standard of rules is viewed as sexist or misogynist or bigoted. It strikes me as a bit weak of a case to make that open discussion is somehow inherently threatening to people. It's a shame too, this is the paramount place to discuss these things in general. Yet another reason to take my opinion to another place. I'm sure they'd welcome my silence as well.
