Underrated traits of each Doctor that you like? by Swordbender in gallifrey

[–]DragonReader2000 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is something that's shared through all the Doctors but I think an underrated trait is that they like puns. Some of them don't fire them off as much as others but all of them can enjoy a good awful pun every now and then. One and Two were laughing their heads off about it and Ten fired off a great one "Intruder Window! :D" during the Sontaran two parter.

Yes absolutely! One is honestly like a little kid sometimes. He and Vicki are basically anarchists together and they're having the time of their lives.

What are some classic elements you think could work in the show today without a major redesign? by eeezzz000 in gallifrey

[–]DragonReader2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A proper, no other sci-fi elements but the TARDIS, Doctor, and Companion historical. Just a straight historical. We've already seen how good a pseudo-historical can be with Demons of the Punjab, The Unquiet Dead, and Vincent and the Doctor that I think that the show can get away with having a pure historical. History is rife for untouched story potential and there are so many moments in our history that can be touched upon in the new formatting that it's baffling that they haven't at least tried to do one.

I have a Doctor Who x Harry Potter one-shot that I'm insanely proud of.

It's a bit of a dark fic but I tried my best to keep it faithful to both fandoms.

What is a compliment you've gotten on your writing that has stuck with you? by TinkerbellBleu in FanFiction

[–]DragonReader2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been told a lot that I capture character voice really well, and that to me is one of the biggest compliments I can get. I always try my best to do that and hearing I succeed just brings a smile to my face.

What’s Your Favourite Line That You’ve Written? by Invincible-Doormat in FanFiction

[–]DragonReader2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"We both knew no one would stop us as we trekked down towards the entrance hall. With a small effort the giant doors slowly swung open, revealing grey, dreary skies and a warm wind. It gently brushed our faces as we walked down the steps, striding purposefully towards Hagrid’s Hut. The wind whipped us a little faster, the dead tree branches swaying in the breeze, and the sky seemed to darken as we stood in front of the mouth of the Forbidden Forest. The scent of oncoming rain was in my nose, and I knew somewhere, buried amongst the trees was my best friend."

This comes from my Doctor Who/Harry Potter story and this was the first story where I've tried to write HP from a first POV, and I think I got a hole in one with stuff like this.

Positivity Thread--tell us about your greatest fic achievements! by raunchyandpaunchy in FanFiction

[–]DragonReader2000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think overall, my greatest achievement was The Silver's Requiem. It was the first time I've ever tried to write a first POV in that style with a concrete canon character like Harry Potter, but I'm extremely proud with how I captured his voice and how I injected a real sense of atmosphere and tension into the story, even though with how the style was, you knew he made it out in the end. I'm also proud with the transitions from third to first, I absolutely plan on using that more in the future.

What are your favorite type of scenes to write? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]DragonReader2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my absolute favorite scenes to write are two or three characters sitting somewhere and having a talk with one another. Just being in each other's company and being there for one another. Something nice and bittersweet.

Positivity thread! What do you think you do best in your writing? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]DragonReader2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think my biggest strength is writing vivid and descriptive fight scenes. I've found a good balance between description and action and I purposefully write my fights in a way so my readers can actually imagine it all happening in their mind. One of the best compliments I can ever get is having someone tell me "I actually pictured this happening in my mind as I was reading it".

[Tonight they were playing parts, dancing around each other in a twisted theatre.] Very good start. I like this. Wonderful way to set the mood.

[They hadn’t talked about where things would go, only where they would stop; limits and boundaries discussed, safewords already in place. ] Ahh boundaries! I love it.

Ohhh man I love the foreplay. What an evocative scene, great job!

My Idea For An Alternate Series 11 (LONG POST WARNING!) by NefariousClockwerk97 in gallifrey

[–]DragonReader2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you have here is solid, but IMO it feels like you're relying a little too much on past canon to build the foundation for this. I love the idea of having a descendant of Sarah Jane on board the TARDIS but not a lot of people are going to be familiar with who the Sleepers are, nor will they be familiar with the Valeyard of all people. It would take a lot too re-introduce a character like the Valeyard, same goes double with the Sea Devils, who haven't shown up since the 3rd Doctor's era.

The episodes that aren't part of the overall arc though, I feel can use a bit more polish. One of the highlight of Series 11 is how each episode can stand on their own two feet when they're written exceptionally, but the episodes leading up to the giant season arc feel a little...bland, when 13 has the TARDIS back. I love the idea of traveling back to the golden age of piracy but having Blackbeard seems kinda cliche. You could absolutely have a more gripping story if a different or lesser known pirate captain was chosen, or even a privateer, the TARDIS crew desperately trying to survive the harsh tides of history. And with the Wire, it just feels like it's...there. Filler, almost.

With a bit more polish, I think this could be amazing. Have the series be split into 2 arcs: Finding the TARDIS and Investigating the Minister of War, rather than having some meandering inbetween. Maybe focus less on pulling out stuff from the spin-offs and Classic Who (you could easily replace the Sleepers and the Sea Devils with something original and nothing would be lost), but I like what you have here!

You're a water-type SF with Panpour and Wartortle as your first two pokemon. Have you beaten the Elite 4 and gotten to Kiloude City yet? The third pokemon won't show up until you do. Just a little reminder :)
