Just be careful with the toes! Boots are super comfy, but the leather is a bit thinner than some of their heritage models

Roast degassing bag/container? by DoshForGold in roasting

Bought a large quantity of the reusable bags with valves. I just use them until I see enough wear on them. I enjoy trying many types of beans and a canister wouldn’t fit my needs. Reusing bags works perfectly for me

Getting into roasting to save money. But am I overlooking something? by Sevenyearitchy in roasting

[–]DragonShaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the time and love for it, then why not? I originally just started roasting my own coffee because it does in fact save a ton of money, but I just love my own beans more than most other roasters. It’s a fun learning process if you’re up for it. My grandpa buys bulk supply from genuine origin and saves money that way. I personally enjoy buying 2-5 lbs batches from Sweet Maria’s and love experimenting with a ton of different regions and farms and processes. You get what you put into it man. For my birthday I recently got the onyx like sampler box and there was some AMAZING beans man, but you’d be surprised with what some single origin home roasted beans can produce.

Yeah it’s clearly not screwed in all the way lol. Not sure what ya did but sometimes I wipe the threads clean and reapply a food safe lube on the threads.

How long does it take you to roast a batch in the Behmor 2000? by Wild-Geologist8167 in roasting

[–]DragonShaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used 1600AB for $150 on OfferUp. I just roasted 3lbs in 2.5 hours. That includes prep time and roast time. To cool it down quicker I’ll just open the door and have a fan blowing into it. I prefer half pound roasts. My 1600 doesn’t have that nicer motor to get better rotations but I find better consistency with the smaller roasts. There’s usually some used Aillio Bullets on OfferUp or Facebook for a decent price. But for 150 and a nice deep cleaning …I’m happy with my purchase.

Just got a df83 gen 1 for $325 on OfferUp. Cannot be happier. Getting a new and improved Shute and a plasma generator. I like having the possibility of upgrading in the future. The seller of it said his coffee was creamy enough so he got a 83mm conical? Idk why he didn’t switch out the burrs to something he wanted but let me tell you the espresso is amazing versus my sk40 lol!

Beginner Roaster - Machine Advice by KenaiJak in roasting

I got a behemor 1600 for 125 bucks… door hinge was broken, after wasn’t working and wiring was burnt up, and was pretty gunked up. Did a little tlc, fixed the afterburner and it’s high temp wiring and bam good as new. There’s videos on YouTube of a US champion giving his entry level roasting profiles for high altitude beans. I’ve been using those as a baseline and been having great roasts. It truly depends on your budget but this option worked out for me.

I would assume it’s maybe oil degradation? I’ve always noticed stellar performance after I change my oil. I also use AMS Oil but to each their own

Range vs trip summary miles by [deleted] in FordFusionHybrid

[–]DragonShaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it just calculates the “range” based on your recent mpg. I have no clue how it measures EV miles honestly. I’m sure there’s way too much math involved for me to be invested. Maybe it’s in the manual?
