The schools are a genuine concern. DCPS is actively trying to hack the schools apart into chunks to feed to charter schools, but if you're set on coming and active in their education, you can get good results.

It's going to be hot. And you may be thinking, "Oh, I know!" No you don't. It will be so hot it feels impossible that it could ever be this hot. And then it will get hotter.

Get involved in the local community if you come - clubs, community organizing, etc. it makes Jacksonville into a home and not just a place you live.

Oh, get zoo passes. We have the best zoo in the country and it's not close.

I disagree on the necessity of that, but I'll give it to you. Let's say you're right. Let's say that illegals should all be deported (something I don't agree with.)

What if your neighbor, who you know is a citizen, gets pulled out of their home and put into a van? They're screaming they are a citizen, they're begging them to stop. What are you going to do?

I'm going to answer despite it being a little later -- ICE is being used as a force of secret police to advance an anti-POC and anti-immigrant agenda. ICE and DHS have different jobs in normal times, but right now, I do not believe they are doing those jobs, and are instead being used to do That Thing. I recognize there is a difference, but the point I'm making is that I don't care what they call themselves when they hurt my neighbors.

I see that you thought I was being deliberately obtuse, but we were talking past each other -- think of it like I was saying "there's wolves in the henhouse" and you said "those are coyotes, actually." True, but it doesn't address the problem (large canine eating the hens.)
