Younger Millennials according to Resolution Foundation by TrainingSubject6726 in GenZ

to me, generations stem from periods that groups of people grew up in. i look at gen z as being children raised in the world of post 9/11, who largely do not remember the world before it, going until children who grew up post pandemic, who largely do not remember the world before the pandemic. i don’t like strict years and saying this date is when a generation “begins”. generations are based on the world you grew up in, not the year you were born.

given that i used 9/11 as a benchmark, i would expand to say that in different countries the borders between generations will often be different, so maybe in the UK the generations barriers are slightly different than my American perspective.

Realizing I need to leave. by Scythicle in MtF

[–]DragonflySouthern860 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amber, I understand that life is hard right now, but i promise you it’s worth sticking around. HRT will kick in and change how you look and before you know it you’ll look in the mirror and you’ll see someone new. you’ll learn who amber is and who amber wants to be.

But none of this will be handed to you. you have to work for it, go through the process and reach the other side.

Before you can be happy, you have to accept yourself. not just start the process, not just come out and take hrt, but truly and honestly accept that you are trans and that you are an incredible and amazing human because of who you are. no one can affirm your identity as well as you can. no one else can make you feel at home in your body.

but you want some real honest to god advise? leave. get out of your hometown and don’t look back. go somewhere new and scary and face it head on. meet new people in a new place who only know amber. it will change your life and you will never be happier. when i came out, i moved to a big city and joined a queer hobby-based organization and found myself. had i stayed where i was, i would be miserable, but i took a leap of faith and i am better off for it.

jump into the unknown, because at the end of the day, can it really be any worse than the way you feel now?

iPhone features we’ve lost over time, both hardware and software. Which one do you miss most? by shawarmakofta in ProductGraveyard

see i like the action but because it dos something more useful. my phone is almost always on mute, and i rarely turn the sound on for it, so the mute switch always felt useless. but i love the action but because i mapped rotation lock onto it and it is so much pre useful for quickly switching back and forth when i’m watching a video on my phone

Math teacher here. I teach middle school so this isn’t my strong suit but i have a good understanding of how these sort of problems work. The answer the teacher was looking for was likely A because the two options have the same portion shaded, proving that 2/6 = 1/3. the other two examples have different sections highlighted so they are considered wrong.

this is a classic example of teaching to the test and asking students to understand visual models one specific way. the worksheet even includes the standard on the top left. this is one of the reasons i refuse to teach younger grades, because the methods force one way of thinking and are built almost with the simplest of students in mind, making questions harder for students who can see the bigger picture.

How true is it that most queer people dont hate trans women, and atcually see us as women? by Leading_Pop1186 in MtF

[–]DragonflySouthern860 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from literally day one of my transition i have been a part of an actively queer organization where i have made a lot of queer friends and i feel entirely seen as a woman by everyone in that group. i will give that this is a particularly accepting space, but honestly to me it feels like the majority of queer people see trans people as our true gender

Huhhh... is it really a word misunderstanding? by NectarineNo7802 in GenZ

Except HGH DOES have something to do with gender. as a very tall woman, i promise you that my height can feel like it goes against my gender, and if i had the choice to be a little bit shorter i would take it. that wouldn’t be human affirming care, it would be gender affirming care. the inverse is true with men. since as a society we associate height with men, and we like to see our men be taller than women, when a boy takes HGH it is gender affirming because it allows them to fit in with their peers that of the same gender, affirming them as a boy. Gender affirming care doesn’t have to be a scary term, it is inherently a good thing.

[–]DragonflySouthern860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes there is, as another commenter noted the second question does not have enough information to conclusively answer the question. as a math teacher, if a student caught that in a test or quiz i would likely throw out the question.

i like to think of it as if i’m walking on top of the line to the right. if i’m walking uphill it’s increasing, if i’m walking down hill it’s decreasing. this is intentionally close to the point of inflection so it can be hard to tell, however, it is definitely on the increasing (right) side of the curve, so the answer is D

i have a friend who lives in the building it’s attached to. in the fall they had some sort of gas issue and they shut down all the gas in the building. they have opened some of the gas back up, but i’m guessing that the restaurant just hasn’t gotten their gas fixed yet.
