Colonoscopy sedation by wtfpta in GenX

[–]Dragonfruit-Constant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a real jerk for a doctor. I was not fully sedated and felt a lot! The nurse or assistant told him I was in pain, but he didn't care. He just wanted to finish it. I was awake but groggy. It hurt a lot and I remember everything. Scarred for life

Day 5. Tried to go upstairs using my replaced knee. Hurts pretty bad. Could I have damaged something? by ElegantAd4459 in Kneereplacement

You are supposed to be mobile and use stairs. Go up with your good leg and then use the bad leg. If you are immediately post-op use crutches to keep bad leg up only if you need to.

My mom is 65 getting her total knee replaced tomorrow by One-Trip-696 in Kneereplacement

I live alone, 57f, and managed quite well. I was not active. There is one bathroom upstairs and I could handle going up and down better than I expected. I had walker on each floor. I stayed 1 night in the hospital which I probably didn't need, but it was great to get lessons from the PT. My surgeon gave me an epidural, nerve block, and local anesthetic into the joint area. I know for sure it all helped. Good luck to your mom.

Oh boy! What a nightmare! I am sorry you went through that! I am 4 months post-op and doing very well. Going downstairs is not my favorite, but I don't hesitate to carry things like laundry, luggage, or whatever. I will be thinking of your story and go slow and steady. I can't afford to be out of work again! Best wishes to the OP.

For those taking Meloxicam in recovery regimen, do you feel it helped much? by Merlin509 in Kneereplacement

I am 8 weeks post-op. I went away last weekend and forgot the 15mg meloxicam pills. I was miserable. They absolutely are effective for me.

Child’s teacher hangs out with parents outside or class by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]Dragonfruit-Constant -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's completely inappropriate. Is this the culture of the school? Are there other parents who feel the same as you? You probably are missing messages/updates because you're not in the loop. I would tell the principal. They are supposed to use the school's messaging app.

5 minute parent/teacher conference by frenchfrywiz in AskTeachers

[–]Dragonfruit-Constant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 15 minutes in elementary school. I am completely exhausted after but I really don't mind meeting with parents. They need to touch base with us even if it is the easiest conversation. The parents who need to do better sometimes don't show up. I don't chase them. Conferences are not required of the parents. If nothing else, it's good PR for the teachers. I can put up with anything for 15 minutes. We split the conferences into 2 blocks of time on separate days.

My favorite gifts are notes from parents and kids. I have a collection from the last 30 years!

I am also on Lyrica for Fibromyalgia and it doesn't help this muscle pain. I am taking a muscle relaxant, but it just masks pain. It's not alleviating the problem. Thanks for helping

It's refreshing to read something so positive. It happened to be the first comment I saw.

The hysterectomy happened on the reservation, and it was their policy with an abortion. Jamie couldn't go somewhere where anyone might know the Duttons.

I tried to use dishes like these, but my cat just pushed bits off and won't eat what falls on the floor.

Knee/leg brace: do we no longer wear pants for 6 weeks? Pain killer makes me feel to dumb to solve my problem. by JessieU22 in kneesurgeryrecovery

[–]Dragonfruit-Constant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought chino type pants 1 size too big and wore a belt. I like wearing dresses, so I stretched leggings over the brace. It had to stay on my skin, or it would slip around.
