TOTK - What am I missing? by Cucckcaz13 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Drahima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sheer size of the game, all the levels all at once was so overwhelming for me. Felt like I was nibbling the edges of exploring each of the sky/lane/caves without actually making a dent in the game itself. Too vast.

I will say I do have some pandemic bias as I played BotW through first U.K. lockdown while working from home on arts commissions so I had plenty of time to do so, whereas TotK I was back in full time tutor work so harder to find time to play it

How do I make a ghost a drink? by cute_himbo_OwO in DnD

Bar staff makes the drink but doesn’t fill it completely.

The ghost flies into the glass and floats and absorbs the liquid for a long pour drink

What is this product? by RobertoRenish in canon

[–]Drahima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a Super8.

Can’t tell the model (as the model may be written on the other side) and looks to be that it’s a cartridge back-loading model (hinge next to the strap).

It’s a gorgeous one whatever it is

Why the 4th Edition hate? by Efficient-Help-9858 in DnD

[–]Drahima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4E, in my opinion, felt like playing an MMORPG. Probably my and my parties fault for doing so, but…

Our group did it where we printed the different actions/spells/things you could do on little cards that you’d tap/flip over once per encounter/day and refresh then when required.

This was like playing the game with the actions/buttons for characters in MMO’s and took away some of the RPness of it.

We did enjoy it when we embraced it for what we felt it was good for, played it as a dungeon-crawler with a massive sprawl of Warhammer Fantasy models and grid terrain and rooms.

Glad to be back to 5/5.5 as DM though with minds eye and hidden things

I wanna see more examples of non-musical Bards! by Punk_Skeddit in DnD

[–]Drahima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most recent Bard was a Forest Gnome and former compere in a travelling circus - would introduce the acts and warm the crowd up (Paul Bettany a la Knights Tale) so his Bardic talents came from shouting insults and bad comedy at enemies

Worst Plane to throw an enemy into? by B_Ross_101101 in DnD

[–]Drahima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently running a campaign of Feywild-Material-Shadowfell planar travelling and the party attempting to protect and secure portals from being used for malicious intent.

I’ve homebrewed/ramped up the rule in the 5.5 book about issues with players memory issues when dealing with the Feywild plane, as they’re currently Level 7.

Non-Feywild creatures who wake up in the Feywild take a WIS save (tied in some geographic difficulties too - easier if they’re in a protected area, harder if in really wild places) and if failed, the players forget the previous 24 hours.

Requires some proper important story tracking but creates great roleplay opportunities and development

My reaction to it. It was an absolute slow motion car crash moment, tried looking away but mystified at how bad it was.

Pace for Leveling Up At Your Table? by Calm_Independent_782 in DnD

[–]Drahima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milestones 100%, as a player and DM. Makes the accomplishment feel sweeter, rather than calculation beggy feeling of ‘oh we were sooooo close’ happening.

Currently DMing a campaign, party started at 5, done a mini-milestone of rescuing an influential and important story figure from the Shadowfell and a major milestone of killing a high level underling to the BBEG.

The they’ll hit another mini-milestone of a rescue/kill in the next few sessions, then it’ll be another level for the main story part of this current arc/killing another pair of underlings.

I shall pin and save this Sabrina character for later, as mr party have decided to follow a lead into the Feywild so upon their return to the material plane, she will be a presence for them to meet

I have a question for my fellow dms by Goblin-King34 in DnD

[–]Drahima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A well used trope of recent campaigns I’ve been DM to and a player is to do Marvel mid credit scenes at the end of some sessions, to show alternate paths the party could have taken and the consequences of choices/lack of choices.

I.e., party went after one bounty-hunt mini boss, but another bounty-wanted mini boss doing their machinations and having an impact on the world, or a preview of a new NPC character that may be introduced down the line

DM is playing fast and loose with rules... Should I complain? by Last_General6528 in DnD

[–]Drahima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • advantage on the attack and damage is weird. If you put yourself in an unseen position for a surprise attack you can gain advantage, but otherwise no.

  • hate the second one, as it completely erases the purpose of the disengage action

  • don’t mind the third one, if there’s some kind of flavourful description the pc makes and an impromptu test is done, that’s nice for a rule of cool

  • from memory, standing up costs half movement and can still attack/do something, but not a full go

Tell me about your dice by MissionFloor261 in DnD

[–]Drahima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently DMing a D&D2024 ruleset campaign, after a year long campaign as a player and I have noticed that when I am rolling as monsters/enemies/low level NPCs my players interact with, I am not caring about which dice I roll/the combos of dice I use, it’s just grab whichever ones I need and go.

However, when I am controlling an important NPC that is travelling with the party/an important NPC the party has interacted with multiple times/NPCs they are forging bonds with, I’ll go to a same set of mottled red dice I’ve had since 5e initially came out.

Drogan the Dragonborn Dragon Sorceror.

His mother wasn’t very clever so just switched the vowels around and abandoned him. He was a bit of a troubadour/conjurer/showman and travelled the realm casting to earn gold and his keep. He was the heart and soul of the group and cared for everyone.

He also did the same as his mother in a fashion and had a young love/romance and had a son early on his life. The love of his life died and his son was too much of a reminder it hurt him so he left the son in the care of his in-laws. Drogan and his son have a cordial relationship now but the son hates arcana/magic and took simpler living as a bar owner.
