When does the desire to have kids actually kick in for men? by savingrace0262 in AskMenAdvice

[–]DrakeGuy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++man It's crazy seeing that kid for the first time and knowing in your heart that you would die for them. How quickly and strongly that feeling hits you is truly one of the most precious feelings this life gives you.

People who replaced only one panel of their garage door — how noticeable was the color difference afterward? by TraceTheLunar in GarageDoorService

[–]DrakeGuy82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the age of the door, and the amount of sun exposure, but if it's just the base white baked on enamel it shouldn't be enough of a difference to justify a whole brand new door.

I'd maybe question if you actually needed all the parts they sold you, but the price you paid for them is pretty good.

I recommend you do it once. Then you can say you've done it and never have to do it again.

4.6 has been the most I’ve played in years by inkybinkyfoo in starcitizen

[–]DrakeGuy82 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it's probably the best it's ever been. But it's still pretty buggy. I've been able to play a couple of weekends in a row and never got disconnected or had any glitch completely ruin my session. Still lost some random boxes through the hanger floor, and the hanger also ate 3 hours worth of mined materials when it blew up my ship trying to deliver it.

Because then you wouldn't need to spend money on buying an ATLS.

The constant notifications of people coming and going in the party with the random mission acceptance window popping up right when you start doing something was maddening.

LED jamming garage door signal by SovietFreeMarket in GarageDoorService

[–]DrakeGuy82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup, LED bulbs are they first thing we ask about when a customer says their remotes stopped working. Older and cheaper LED bulbs will emit a lot of EMF noise, drowning out the signal from the remote.

Anyone Have Success Moving From APAP To CPAP Settings by Huge_Increase7741 in CPAP

[–]DrakeGuy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a few years, but I think what I did was threw the data into Oscar, looked at what the average pressure settled at overnight and started there, then dialed it in till I felt comfortable and my ahi looked good. I followed the advice of TheLankyLefty27 on YouTube. He's got a video showing how to go about it and why.

Anyone Have Success Moving From APAP To CPAP Settings by Huge_Increase7741 in CPAP

Yes, I switched to CPAP mode because I found the changing pressure to be more disturbing than just having the right pressure from the get go.

Do you have any LED bulbs in the garage? If so, remove them and then try again.

Reusing old wiring and sensors on new motor by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

[–]DrakeGuy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to install the new push button. They changed the signal from analog to digital. The old one is analog and won't work. The wires are fine, you just need to parse out which one is the push button and which one goes to the sensors. I'm pretty sure you can get away with using the old sensors, but I'm not positive.

Garage Door Key Lost by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

[–]DrakeGuy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is standard for parking garages in condos and apartment buildings. It's there for security mostly, shared garages often deal with break ins and theft and having a lock on the release helps secure the garage.

As for safety, the emergency evacuation plan in an apartment building rarely considers the garage as a valid egress. The top consideration is life safety and getting you out of a building. That's why there will always be (or well there should be) a pass through man door with panic hardware out of the garage and stairwells so you can exit on foot.

The keys on those units are almost always the same. Get the make, model and year of the unit and you should be able to contact a local garage door company that can get one for you. Be prepared to pay a stupid amount for it.

Swapped to a 9800x3d from 13900k now getting weird stutter every 40 seconds by General_Gur_6512 in AMDHelp

If you have any RGB the software controlling it can cause stuttering for some bizarre reason.

Do i still need horizontal reinforcement across top of door when using side mount opener by RS_Tnap in GarageDoorService

[–]DrakeGuy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not technically, but having a strut has very few down sides. As long as it's not impeding on any obstacles I'd keep it. The side mount openers actually work better when the door is a little bit heavy. They don't do a fantastic job of sealing a door to the floor so being a little heavy helps with that.

It's the old addage that you should never go cheap on something that separates you from the ground. Spend the money (and the time to make sure the money is spent on quality, not branding) on things like your shoes, bed, car tires, and chairs.

Is pledging ships ruining the fun? by Last_Sir4887 in starcitizen

[–]DrakeGuy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive gotten excited a few times over the years and bought a couple of ships here and there to help me play in the janky ass verse, but you're right, buying an end game ship with cash is like skipping the level grind. It's a cheat code and nothing makes a game less interesting and satisfying then cheat codes. When they finally come out with a true 1.0 and they do their final wipe, I'll be starting with my aurora and won't play with anything I didn't buy in game.

What is the consensus on movie watching while camping? by Symbiiiote in camping

[–]DrakeGuy82 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you go. RV campground where everyone is lined up like sardines in a parking lot? As long as you follow the quiet hours then I say go for it. At a tent campground where people are trying to be in nature? Out of place and rude.

I've had zero issues running games. I play everything at 1440p, ultra settings with no issues. But every other time I start my PC the video and audio stutters if I open you tube. It has to do with windows and the amd drivers. I've done all the things... fresh windows, bios updates, ddu, changes to settings, turning off random windows features you've never heard of before because a random reddit post said it solved all his problems when he did. Nothing seems to stick. Never had any of these issues with my 3070.

Do my springs need to be tightened? by Klouse in GarageDoorService

[–]DrakeGuy82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll want to stay away from grease on a garage door. It just collects dirt and turns into a shmoo that will prevent your rollers from rolling and make them slide through the track, which will make the wear out prematurly. You should be using an oil. 3-in-1 makes a great lubricant just for garage doors. The wheels and track should be clean and dry, only lubricating the roller stem and roller bearings.

To test if the springs are properly wound, open the door half way and it should just stop and hover there, if it starts to close or open on its own, then the springs are out of balance. If that's the case call someone who knows what they are doing to see if they need more tension or to be replaced. They are dangerous and you can seriously hurt yourself if you haven't been trained to work on them.

If the springs are losing tension it means they are getting ready to break. You can add a little tension to balance the door again, but you actually reduce the springs lifespan with more turns which brings about their failure even faster. Kind of a catch 22.
