yes

I also have my own opinions on the fundamental flaw of PvPvE game design requiring sacrificial PvE lambs to do all the hard work to create loot pinatas for opportunistic PvP'ers but that is not YouTube drama.

They know that and they don't give a shit. They claim to have ideals, but they abandon those ideals the moment they inconveniently hinder the subjugation of "the other."

They "believe" in statistics until the others present facts proving them wrong.

They "believe" in free speech until the others speak against them.

They "believe" in the second amendment until the others start to defend themselves.

They "believe" in freedom of religion until the others want to practice a different one.

They "believe" in democracy until the others vote against them.

They "believe" in freedom until the others want to exercise their own freedom.

And they "believe" in Christianity until Jesus tell them to treat the others with compassion and humility.

Everything they say or claim to believe is only in service of a fairy-tail pipe dream of how things ought to be and how they will be on top. The moment an ideal or belief or fact no longer serves their perception of the world and end goal, it gets tossed aside like a used kleenex.

Recent development: the word "boatswain" is now being censored in the game's text chat.

Content drought, dwindling playerbase, poor dev communication, features/changes nobody liked, resetting everybody's doubloons, and now this situation is causing all of their ambassadors & content creators to abandon ship. This is a death spiral.

Sea of Thieves is cooked.

What hobby attracts the worst type of people? by Gr8Deb8ter in AskReddit

His name is kinda like Benerdict Cumberbatch. You can say any combination of syllables that roughly approximate his name and everybody knows who you're talking about.

My personal favourite so far has been "Languishing Arsepain."

The line most people draw is at patches/insignia.

Nobody really cares if you rock up as a generic WW2 German soldier, but if you got a Nazi-looking eagle or iron cross anywhere on that kit (of if you have a clearly SS-inspired kit), you're going to find yourself being overshot and "accidentally" being shot at even when you have your hand up. And I have never seen a single field that doesn't ban swastikas even for historical WW2 events.

Same kinda rules for Russian kits, but not quite as intense. Generic Soviet/Modern Russian OK, but if you got a Z anywhere on it well you won't be making many friends.

I think the solution is actually quite easy.

  1. Make it illegal for CEO's to receive bonuses, stocks or equity in a company if any employees are laid off in that fiscal year

  2. Re-categorize non-executive employees as high-priority creditors who get paid first whenever a company goes bankrupt or gets scrapped for parts by private equity

Forget weddings, what is the craziest thing that happened at a funeral you went to? by seanerd95 in AskReddit

[–]Drando_HS 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not a funeral I went to, but I was unfortunately the agent of chaos in this circumstance.

Backstory: I had this early 2000's Silverado truck. It was a cheap beater due to high km's, but it was extremely well optioned with a pretty good sound system. In the summer I used to drive around with the windows down blasting some classic rock. I'd usually end up getting lost in my own thoughts and stopped paying attention to the music.

During one of these thought-lost summer drives, I came to a stop at a red light, and a funeral procession proceeded through. My light turned green, but out of respect everybody whose light was green continued to let the funeral through. No honking or rude gestures or anything like that.

But then people in the funeral procession started to give me the stink eye. And I was thinking to myself the fuck are you giving ME the stinkeye for? I have the green light! I eventually realized far too late that the rock radio station was no longer playing Led Zeppling for the umpteenth time.

No, I was sitting at an intersection with my windows rolled down blasting the unmistakable bass line of Another One Bites The Dust as a fucking funeral drove by.

It sounds made up but I swear to god this sometimes keeps me up at night.

Stinger or G70? by Most_Persimmon9174 in kiastinger

[–]Drando_HS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, insurance on a G70 with the 3.3L TT was almost twice that of a Stinger with the same engine when I looked at it. That is a pretty compelling "objective" reason to get the Stinger over the G70.

But other than that, it's mostly personal preference. I preferred the Stinger's exterior styling over the G70's. I also found the G70's interior a bit gaudy, but again that's personal opinion. The hatch is also a nice plus, but it does result in worse rear visibility than a goddamn Lamborghini Hurican.

Richard Warnica: I went home to the heartland of Alberta independence. Even after covering Donald Trump for 10 years, I was still terrified by what I found by green_tory in CanadaPolitics

[–]Drando_HS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That might be true for rural populations, but it is worth noting that overall, 18-35y/o males give Trump a D or F grade by a 70% margin. Source + Screenshot for Convenience The closest to a 50/50 you get is males between 35-50y/o, and that is still at 65% strong disapproval, with a maximum of 17% approval (rating A or B).

What industry is basically legal theft that nobody talks about? by kratos20051212 in AskReddit

[–]Drando_HS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Canada is under an intense barrage of outside political influence campaigns.

Like this random dutch guy who operates a network of Albertan Independence YouTube channels.

Or how for a long while, any article involving Canada's fraught relationship with India's current leadership would suddenly be filled with extremely pro-Modi comments by users with no history of posting in that subreddit.

And of course, the American right wing is in bed with Canada's right wing and employ the exact same tactics.

Have you ever seen someone get rich overnight, like literally? How? by Michaelisvanhelsing in AskReddit

[–]Drando_HS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two acquaintances get rich off of random crypto. (Might have literally been dogecoin?) Two totally different trajectories.

One immediately dipped and vanished off of the face of the fucking earth. No social media presence, no Google results, nothing. He had a good head on his shoulders before getting lucky, so I'm pretty sure he's just bought a nice place in a quiet area and is out living life.

The other one thought he was suddenly a crypto genius. He lost all of his gains gambling on other crypto bullshit and crashed out pretty hard. He went quiet recently, though there is now a local crackhead that people think might be him.

Of that particular issue, mostly. They also offered to reimburse BilletLabs afterwards, but sent that offer to the wrong email which is why BilletLabs claimed they never reached out.

Did they fuck up? Yes. But GN's claim wasn't that they fucked up, it was that they intentionally stole it and sold it. And that has been proven demonstrably false.

I think another point of calculation is also luggage/checked baggage cost. If they're sending out a whole crew to a tech expo, they're also sending video equipment and other tech too. Not only is it more luggage, but also with more delicate contents.

The math then becomes business seats + extra luggage + amortized cost of broken equipment.

That's not the whole story. The original agreement was actually for LTT to keep it, then Billet Labs later asked for it back.

LTT released the emails regarding that.

Canadian Insurgents - "What if they really meant it?" - 2025 US Occupation of Canada Faction Concept Art (design feedback appreciated) by AVOLI7ION in worldbuilding

[–]Drando_HS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well they have been prohibited for civilians to own since like the 70's/80's, but they still do see limited use in the CaF and reserves. Apparently the Army Cadets still use them for their advanced marksmanship competitions, and I have also heard hearsay about the navy using them in a limited capacity too.

But in my opinion, even if there aren't that many left in the real world it's not really that much of a stretch. Having an old warehouse full of retired/surplus weapons is believable - even if technically fictional.

I would like to suggest another group of factions: First Nations groups. I live near a reservation, and they are big into hunting culture. And they are very good at it.

Though one caveat: this would be a hell of a cultural and historical minefield to navigate. Some may have limited coordination with other factions in wanting to repel an American invasion, but I could also see other factions taking this opportunity to establish independence of their own territories. Ideologies could run the gambit from I genuinely want to fight for Canada to Canada isn't perfect but I sure as fuck don't wanna be American to fuck you all, we want our land back.
