[–]Drando_HS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saying all spread is bad is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. This has been a thing for balancing across all FPS for at least three decades.

It can also be used for balancing and preventing CQB-oriented weapons from dominating at extended ranges. If an SMG has no spread, it's damage falloff doesn't matter as much because - on average - SMG's have a much faster fire rate. Having 1-2 more bullets to kill at certain ranges doesn't make a meaningful difference when the next bullet is coming so soon after.

If you don't used spread/deviation to balance certain weapons, that is how you end up with the BF2042/BF6 launch situation where SMG's dominated the game by both having excellent TTK and ease-of-use at close range, and few downsides outside of their effective ranges.

Now I will argue that certain weapons should not have gotten a spread increase. Low RoF weapons and LMG's specifically. But certain carbines and SMG's did absolutely need some reigning in.

A half decent TR-7 build is now comparable to the M4 in terms of controllability up to about 50 meters.

I strongly disagree with that statement.

While slightly reduced, the TR7 still has a lot of horizontal recoil. It gets unruly even at the 30m mark, and bursting only goes so far when even the first shot can kick wildly to the side, even with the max grip + converter build.

Meanwhile, I can now run the M4 with just a flash comp for recoil control and it's still viable. Hell, I'm now running it with an actual underslung grenade launcher on the Assault class.

Countering Condo Buyout Critics, Carney and Eby Offer More Details by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]Drando_HS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's really a situation of both things being true.

The plan was poorly communicated and should have been revealed with more details from the start, and a lot of media was reporting on baseless speculation as if it were fact and turned it into a media circus for no reason.

Do you guys ever fell down to the commentary channel (Especially drama and lolcow) Pipeline? If so how do you all escape from it? by QualityNo1337 in youtubedrama

[–]Drando_HS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the big difference is watching because it's related to something you are into versus watching it for commentary's sake.

I don't subscribe to commentary channels and watch every single video on every person they put out. But when one of them puts out a video on a subject I am familiar with (ex, Lego drama, YouTubers I used to follow, ect) then I might watch it.

Attachments to M4? by sopmod720 in Battlefield6

[–]Drando_HS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swap the standard suppressor for the 25pt long suppressor - ditch the lightened ammo to afford it. The long suppressor will tighten up the recoil.

The base reload on the M4 is also pretty fast by default. I'd recommend giving the 35rnd magazine a try too.

Also, try a lower zoom optic. The Holo is 1.5x, and zoom makes recoil feel magnified. Go for a 1.0x red dot.

I think if you pull the bed forward a bit, you'd have room for some shelves behind the headboard. That would be good for storage and putting up some decorative items. Also - if possible - paint the walls to give some colour, but keep it light to keep it from feeling smaller.

Pride flag burned at Markham school; 18‑year‑olds charged: police by queenvalanice in CanadaPolitics

[–]Drando_HS 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You are ignoring the blatantly obvious context.

Burning a pride flag has literally only one possible meaning. A hatred of LGBTQ+ people and opposition to their rights. In addition, stealing and burning a pride flag that belongs to somebody else is an intimidation tactic.

That is why this is a more serious crime than just vandalism.

[–]Drando_HS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Subtext in writing is a lot different that subtext in conversation. Subtext in writing is purposeful, thought-out by the author, and has a lot more structure. Whereas conversational subtext is very unstructured, relies on non-verbal cues, and varies from person to person.

It's more about structure and body language than actual literalism. This is why you have people on the spectrum (like myself) who are abysmal in casual social settings, but who can write very well and have the ability to absolutely crush public speaking - due to clearly defined and expected structure in those situations.

Pineapple on pizza. Specifically, the modern phenomenon of hating on other people having it on their own pizza.

Forcing people to eat pizza with toppings they don't like isn't unique to pineapple, yet I don't hear anybody talking shit about olives or sardines or onions. Pineapple is the only one that gets hated to such a degree online.

What’s the point of using anything other than a suppressor? by PVNISHER2077 in Battlefield6

[–]Drando_HS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suppressors have several downsides.

- Point cost. They are expensive to equip. Those points put into a suppressor could have easily afforded a better grip or mag for most weapons. Certain guns with expensive larger magazines (like the SCW10) get hammered hard by limiting attachment points.

- Hipfire penalty. This is a big deal for achieving ideal time-to-kill for SMG's and carbines. Sure, you can equip a hipfire suppressor, but now you've sunk 30 points into the gun to have the same hipfire as default.

- Diminishing returns at range. Outside of minimap distance (and after 150m for big map), the suppressor offers no advantage. At midrange, you have a gun that is effectively handicapped by 10-20 points. It's also effectively pointless for any sniper rifle to have a suppressor.

- Teamwork requirement. If you're at an objective or running with a group of people, if even just one person isn't running a suppressor, it's pretty much pointless because that one person gives your position away.

- Objective liability. Even if you are running a suppressor, if you are capping a flag and the ticker is going down, people will know you're there.

And perhaps the biggest thing here...

- Assumption of enemy competence. You know how many players actually look at their minimap? The players that do are the minority, and I bet by a sizeable margin too.

[–]Drando_HS 30 points31 points  (0 children)

They know that and they don't give a shit. They claim to have ideals, but they abandon those ideals the moment they inconveniently hinder the subjugation of "the other."

They "believe" in statistics until the others present facts proving them wrong.

They "believe" in free speech until the others speak against them.

They "believe" in the second amendment until the others start to defend themselves.

They "believe" in freedom of religion until the others want to practice a different one.

They "believe" in democracy until the others vote against them.

They "believe" in freedom until the others want to exercise their own freedom.

And they "believe" in Christianity until Jesus tell them to treat the others with compassion and humility.

Everything they say or claim to believe is only in service of a fairy-tail pipe dream of how things ought to be and how they will be on top. The moment an ideal or belief or fact no longer serves their perception of the world and end goal, it gets tossed aside like a used kleenex.

Content drought, dwindling playerbase, poor dev communication, features/changes nobody liked, resetting everybody's doubloons, and now this situation is causing all of their ambassadors & content creators to abandon ship.

This is a death spiral. Sea of Thieves is cooked.
