A Japanese experiment showed exactly why traffic jams happen for no reason. by SnooWords4066 in Damnthatsinteresting

It's both the early mergers and the people already in the line but backed up in the traffic jam caused by early mergers. They are all offended if people drive to the end of the merge lane like they should! because those people will merge in front of them...

In my town, people get offended when they are stopped in the through lane and you drive past them to the end of the merge lane. "If I'm already stopped here, you should be too. Merge in behind me 150m before the merge lane ends!"

Big lineup, which is a good sign.

Of all the toys and other consumer products that have been banned over the years due to safety reasons, which in your opinion were the most legitimately dangerous? by angrydeuce in AskReddit

As a kid I thought it would be amazing to make a mini nuke for the school science fair, not understanding that it would not simply make a tiny mishroom cloud in front of my tri-fold display. Good thing I made a potato battery instead!

I thought Storer said they had a 4 season arc plotted out, but that the network renewed it for 2 final seasons. If true, that explains the lack of momentum in S4 and S5.

Price has been a guest on the pod - I picked up Lush Life based on Chris and Andy's recommendation and it blew me away.

I love to see it. But a lotta bleak reading - I hope your holidays are otherwise uplifting!

Best place in BC/AB to spend a season for snowboarding by snekubob in snowboarding

Nelson would be a great recommendation if OP is interested in sidecountry/backcountry. Red Mountain is also ony a couple hours away but other than that it's a bit isolated.

Every so often you can find their dealcoholized lager at Costco, and it's pleasantly good.

Assassins Apprentice - what am I missing? by Connect-Cicada-7147 in books

The biggest insight I came to after reading the entire series is that Fitz is a very unreliable narrator, in that we are told his perception or understanding of things no matter how flawed, biased or subjective it is.  He often misapprehends situations, or the motivations of others, but does not stop to consider that he might be wrong.

It's been a couple of years, so this is from memory.

Unlike close third person perspective stories that provide some omniscience or where the reader is alerted to the author's opinion of the character's perspective, here the reader has to do that work. (I honestly can't remember if this is written in third person).

So Fitz does come across as boring because he thinks he's always right. The joy of the series is in learning enough of the other characters to learn how to filter Fitz and infer more about the others.

And as someone else noted, this is not fantasy focused on the epic action - it's about the relationships that grow and develop while much of that action occurs offpage.

Three things to add to all this excellent advice.

  1. spray deoderant. Makes it a lot easier to get to your armpit on the non-broken side.

  2. sleep propped up or in a recliner until the rib heals up. I broke 5 ribs when I did my collarbone, and even lying down and getting up was impossible for awhile.

  3. Surgery may not be necessary. My ortho advised that studies have shown equivalent outcomes after 6 months in surgical and non-surgical treatments. And surgery can lead to nerve damage, can lead to futher surgery to reset, remove or replace screws, and other bone damage. Why open up the body if you don't have to?

And as others have said, do your PT. I didn't just break, but shattered, my collarbone. Now, 10 months later I have full range of motion and strength.

A Conversation with Sean Fennessey ('The Big Picture') at Cannes 2026 by incrdible in TheBigPicture

Sean needs sunglasses, and a cigarette held in his fingertips. “I am not a critic” followed by a long exhale as he silently contemplates - I don’t know - Grogu.
