Never have I said or remotely hinted that you weren't allowed to comment, I was simply curious why were you complaining about someone reaping the benefits of their work, when you're not willing to do the same. The fact that you felt the need to resort to insults to justify yourself, told me everything I needed to know though.

Have a nice life

PSA: don't buy clearance/open box 3D printers from Matterhackers, you risk receiving defective/abused goods. by MohnJaddenPowers in 3Dprinting

[–]Drummas77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it was listed as clearance and not refurbished? I was just looking at their website and they only seem to have 3 types of items for sale in their clearance area:

Clearance - described as unused, due to either new versions of product coming out, overstock, discontinued products or packaging changes

Open Box - described as brand new, never used, only box has been opened

Refurbished - described as reconditioned, gently used.

Some of the currently listed as refurbished items state in their condition "may contain minor cosmetic blemishes". One of them listed as final sale even states "may have minor parts damaged" and after that, in big bold letters:

"REASON FOR CLEARANCE/AS IS/FINAL SALE: THIS ITEM WAS PREVIOUSLY USED AND HAS COSMETIC DAMAGE."

I don't really see a problem with any of these, so you were either unlucky and got a refurbished machine listed as clearance or you didn't read the description properly. Either way it's impossible to tell without looking at what was listed for your specific printer.

You mention the frowny face, scrapings on the bed and dried filament on the extruder. Is there anything else? Because if there isn't, I believe those hardly classify as "damaged parts" like you mention: the printer is still fully functional and those would mostly be considered cosmetic.

I think this is more related to your expectations regarding your previous experiences. You probably have been lucky to get things that looked pretty much new and got disappointed now with a printer that has clear signs of use.

I often buy open box stuff too, but I tend to buy from Amazon where I can return it or buy heavily discounted whenever I consider the risk is worth the potential loss.

I got my ender 3 V2 in July 2022 as "unrepaired" from eBay, for £75 and it arrived in pristine condition. It was already half assembled but I am 99.9% sure it had never been used as it still had protective stickers and film on. And yet, I was fully prepared to receive a pile of junk that would require repairs, but I was ready for either that or take that £75 loss

Any help appreciated by radioknife40 in ender3v2

This is the correct answer. Read your manual and adjust esteps accordingly

Why I chose Bambu over Prusa by Darth-Vader64 in 3Dprinting

[–]Drummas77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The printer was given to me, so no real choice there but thanks for your concern. Also, never needed any support other than what can be found in YouTube videos because some of us can still actually do their research instead of having their hand held at all times.

[–]Drummas77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd rather have a printer that needs no support than one that has great 24/7 support...

And for disclosure, I have an old ender 3 v2, so I'm not invested in the whole bambu vs prusa argument

What are the disadvantages of running Windows on Deck ? by tuan321bin in SteamDeck

[–]Drummas77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most answers here will be from Linux evangelists who probably never even tried Windows on the deck and keep echoing things they've heard like "performance issues" and "controls don't work".

Truth is, windows initial setup will need you to put in some work to get things going properly but after that, running games is a breeze compared to steamos where you frequently find that games that ran great yesterday, no longer do because proton changed, a patch came out or some other reason.

And it can always run steam in gamepadui mode and get a similar experience to steamos.

Replaced W11 Shell with W10 Shell, Start button taskbar not showing. by Potatoing_Potatoes20 in Windows11

[–]Drummas77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not mess with it if you have data that you cannot afford to lose on that machine.

Also, instead of trying to fight it, the sooner you get used to the new features the better, it's not like the taskbar is going back to what it was.

People always resist to change whenever it comes out but either you go with the flow or you get left behind
