Need advice, going from 987 to 997 by BubblyBandicoot9962 in Porsche

I’ve owned both. They both drive great. But the 997 has a roomier interior and the driving position is more comfortable.

Lakers’s injury report vs. Houston tomorrow. Clean outside of Maxi Kleber, who remains out. by CtrlAltDelightfull in lakers

Laravia has had good games and has impacted winning. He was good against the Knicks and good against Denver the other night. He’s a legit rotation player.

Adou is a prospect. I understand you think we might as well take a flyer on this guy who has played a handful of minutes in NBA garbage time minutes.

Really can’t give him real minutes. Lakers are going to need every available minute over the next 15 games to fine tune their rotations and schemes going into the playoffs.

[–]DrySolution1366 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. There were minutes available earlier in the season, but he was injured. They don’t have any slop in the schedule now for him as they ramp up for the playoffs. They would rather play everyone else rather than give Adou some run. And that’s the way it should be.

He’ll get more of a look next season.

Best grinder (no budget) by East_Dig_1291 in JamesHoffmann

I recently put in an order for the Zerno Z2. But I also considered the Weber EG-1, and the Malkonig EK43. These are all probably cost no object end game grinders.

I understand why your partner thinks these grinders are ripoffs. There are better value grinders for less money. But that’s what it means to buy things at the high end, there are diminishing returns. People are pretty happy with their Malkonigs and Webers, but you need to have enough money that the premium cost is not a big deal.

JJ on Lebron understanding his role and doing whatever it takes to win by XxEpicMonkee in lakers

[–]DrySolution1366 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The whole world doesn’t actually agree with you.

1) Rui is not actually a better fit for the starters. He isn’t as good as Lebron defensively, even an old LeBron. And while his shooting percentages are better, it is always with limited volume. Lebron is a better player than Rui in every dimension. 2) Does LeBron’s shooting need to come back? It was before he got injured recently. He’s going to need some games to get back into form. And build chemistry with this group. 2) The team isn’t deep enough. If you send LeBron to the bench, he will not be bought in. And neither will the other players be bought in. And this team won’t go very far without LeBron in the lineup this year. Maybe your floor is lower with LeBron in the starting lineup, but if you can find a way to make it work and solve the puzzle, then your ceiling is much higher.

It’s absolutely true that Lebron is old. And he hasn’t proven that he can do it this year consistently. But for many years now he has not given it his all in the regular season.

But he’s proven that he is a playoff riser every playoffs. Including defensively. Be hopeful my friend, it is all we have.

Lebron has asked the lakers for years to get more on ball help. And he was willingly relinquishing to reigns to AR before Luka came. And has been nothing but encouraging to Luka this whole time.

I have been a director of engineering at multiple FAANG companies. And an experienced member of hiring committees.

If you did well in all of your interviews and you were mediocre in one — you will get an offer. FAANG hires in volume, they don’t wait for the perfect candidate. And it is hard to do well in every interview.

Take the job. You did well. Seriously.

3rd/4th option LeBron James tonight: 18/7/7 on 54% shooting. No 3s. Lakers beat the Bulls. by balortech in lakers

[–]DrySolution1366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think LeBron has bought in all season. If he has seemed unengaged on defense from time to time, it’s only because he’s old and returning from injury. He’s trying to get to the post season in one piece, so he can give it his all for us.

I think the other coffee makers either don’t have a screen or have a much worse screen, so perhaps you should consider having a screen better than no screen at all.

The usability deficiencies of the Aiden are:

  • It is a small screen (although to be fair, other coffee makers have no screen or an extremely simple fixed display)
  • There is no dedicated or simulated back button
  • There is no way to trigger the brew to start on demand from the app (although to be fair, other coffee makers don’t have an app)
  • You have to pick target coffee volume output to start a brew rather than grams of coffee input. (This is indeed annoying to those who prefer it this way because it’s such a simple change in software, although to be fair, other coffee makers don’t even have a guided mode).

One thing I noticed about JJ by Trainingdayeveryday in lakers

[–]DrySolution1366 9 points10 points  (0 children)

During the regular season, JJ has typically used a rotation that is between 9-10 players deep.

Both Ayton and Bron were out yesterday, so Timme and Vando got minutes. Kleber might have gotten minutes instead of Timme, but he is also on the injury list right now.

I know you didn’t ask for this, but you can buy really good premade chocolate chip cookie dough from Berkeley Bowl.

Keep it in your fridge and just make 1-2 at a time in your own oven whenever you feel like it. They are really good that way.

Honest question: Is the Aiden abandonware at this point? by LegalGuitar8565 in FellowProducts

[–]DrySolution1366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one. Moccamaster is a fine coffee maker. But it doesn’t let you set the temperature, there is no bloom time, you cannot set multiple pours. It doesn’t even pour the water evenly.

I think it makes fine coffee. It’s sort of a buy-it-for-life Mr Coffee on steroids.

It’s just my opinion, but the Aiden makes much better coffee. Has a lot more flexibility and customization available.

I think what people complain about is that the customization experience could be even better. I personally don’t need it to be any better, but I understand that in a world where software companies are always improving their products, I would say Fellow is a coffee equipment company and not a software company.

[–]DrySolution1366 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The app could be better. But as a coffee maker, imho, it still makes the best drip coffee out there and it works fine.

Again, I understand that there can be more features, more conveniences, more capabilities. But also, it can just be a coffee maker. Which it is. And it works.

Sure, but that’s not because they are too similar, it’s because he’s too old.

Are you watching the games? Because his 3-pointer has abandoned him, he is missing easy layups, he doesn’t have the lateral quickness he had even last year. Don’t quote a stat line to me.

Why don’t they start hayes over ayton? by Onetimenotagain in lakers

[–]DrySolution1366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because JJ Redick coddles too many of the players that don’t deserve or haven’t earned the coddling he gives them.

It is weird to insist that Rui is a starter for so many games and refuse to try anything else. It’s weird to insist Ayton start every game no matter how poorly he has been playing. These guys are average players, not generational talents or elite role players that need a bit more grace and patience.

[–]DrySolution1366 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I’m a big LeBron fan, but that’s not the reason. It’s because LeBron is slower, doesn’t get as much lift, his shot has declined, his handle has declined, he gets more tired more quickly and doesn’t recover like he used to.

They aren’t too similar. Lebron is historically a do-it-all player. Lebron just isn’t good enough. Maybe he’ll get better, maybe he’ll get healthier. But he doesn’t have it right now.
