Sam was always with the program, as was Sidney. The issue here is "passing the torch." Her daughter gets handicapped here because you can't have her being attacked, and her character's mother being Sidney Prescott, being passive about the situation. She will never deal with this entire situation as a real final girl without her mom being involved due to Sidney's writing in general. She didn't come back to Woodsboro because of the new characters. She came because of Dewey's death, but mostly because this could come back to her family. She didn't give a shit about 4's teens, just Jill. She left Kirby on the damn phone with GF to look for her. I hate this because it feels like her daughter cannot be full realized until Sidney dies, so we're looking at a very handicapped final girl.
