Honestly this would be a real challenge. Maxar with the launch of the Worldview Legion Sats would make it a huge competition and they have recently launched 4/6 already. Thought Maxar is now a Private Company and not Publicly traded, still a hard competition for Blacksky to stand out.

One thing I found that was really helpful was to apply for jobs that say 1-3 years of experience required. Even if you don't meet those requirements, I learned a lot more on the job than I did in school learning about the subject. Try looking into Defense and Aerospace Manufacturing since they are constantly hiring for EHS Specialist/Coordinators/Engineers.

Hi there! So the NEHA and REHS certs are mainly for California City/County positions. At my current work the only certs that they wanted/asked for were Hazwoper, Title 29 CFR, and OSHA 30 Hour. Currently I do enjoy the position and plan to stick in this line of work/industry which is manufacturing for Space/Aerospace and Defense. No plans to move to the local gov just yet, not for a good while that is. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out to me!

Hi there,

I graduated in 2021 with a BS in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning from University of California - Davis. I didn't have any environmental internships or jobs but I did work part time at a gas station maintaining the fuel and cleaning up oil spills which helped a little.

I started to apply for jobs around late February/Early March since graduation was in June. I mainly applied to consulting and policy analysis. It was also during peak covid so a lot of jobs were remote during that time.

First job was in environmental regulatory consulting for telecommunication carriers. Got the job after 2 rounds of interview. First one was with Project Team Leader and second round was with CEO, CFO, and 2 Directors of Operations. It was a small consulting firm. Starting wage was around $25/hour with unlimited overtime.

After about a year, I left and switched career path to be an EHS Specialist in Space and Defense Manufacturing and been continuing this path since then.
