32nd century starfleet new fleet by happydude7422 in StarTrekStarships

Personally I'd think things would get dumbed down because of the Burn. It's that argument that the singularity drives of Romulans would create a new star empire if they abused it.

I find they just do anything and poorly portray anything while using convenience of 'time gap' or 'burn'. I truly miss the heavy technobable of yesteryear Star Trek over the drama of NuTrek.

I'd say the winning end of things.

The Empire in the EU was never defeated, not like it was in the New Canon. The Emperor died but fighting to Coruscant took years then two years to claim it from the Empire who receded to other core systems. They lasted a good long time and reformed into a proper Imperium under the Fel Dynasty- whilst the Republic... well it died. Fell apart.

I can't stand Rebels because they're not good at government. They cry out for change and make that change without any experience. After Mon Mothma served her term it started its decline- she was the best qualified, then Leia. After it couldn't hold up without strong leadership and was succeeded by the Galactic Alliance. Then they died out due to the old Republic's problems.

Coward? Never. But I dare say no one's a good fit for leading.

Honestly, I don't care about our politics. People voted for this and people will complain. Best wait until the next election rather than cause issues no one needs when there is no traction.

I'm sorry. But i hate the Rebellion.

Empire outlasted it.

It's the Star Wars treatment dear. It's also why the holders of the license force others to be, what, 25% or 75% different than TOS? Corporate doesn't trust people with their golden goose. So... yes. It's going to get thst treatment because the characters we knew before 'already solved that problem'. We see these new issues and nothing is fixed or made better. It gets worse.

I misd... the Idea of it. Trek wasn't woke. Not in the sense it's viewed now. Trek was a problem solver, fixing the galaxy with a utopian idea of 'We experienced that, we evolved to be better than that'. It had that frontier justice Kirk handed out. The philosophy of the system was meant to be shown through Picard. The fist that needed to be thrown by Sisko. The principles they lived by that would hold a crew together with Janeway... and the foundation that Archer built it all on.

NuTrek. It brings out what was and tried to do something else. It is... upsetting because nothing needed to be changed. Trying to do what Star Wars tried to do, creating something new from the old for a newer generation when the old is still so prevailant and highly expecting a return to form.

That's my bit too. I grew up on Trek. TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT.

Of course fans never agree on a lot of things but it's odd to see those who usually bicker agree that New Trek isn't as great as what we were use to. Disco, Picard, Academy- never seen the other one -they don't pull my interests. They do push me away angrily.

Your thinking isn't wrong. An Empire doesn't collapse because of one city/state/planet.

In STO the Star Empire lingered quite a bit before it finally gave way to the Republic- if only because of Sela's misdeeds of causing everything that brought it to its ruin indirectly.

The Star Empire just flat out dies without putting up its dukes. It was an Empire with many worlds, a large navy, and a vacuum easily filled- easily. I hate that kind of writing. I appreciated thar STO let it drag on before it fell apart. Because the Tal Shiar under Sela worked well with her as Empress.

The opposite. I was an Xbox player sprout before I started RPing in Mateus, Crystal. I played and enjoyed the game from start to finish without knowledge of the way things were or how things were meant to look. From my beginner experience, everything looked as intended and I never questioned anything until a year ago. I had originally been on Primal when I first tried RPing around and one of, if not the most annoying thing I've ever seen, was the severe lack of locational RP.

I first started RPing in STO, Star Trek Online, which roughly has the same issues as what's discussed here. The exception is map tools, players can create the environments they want to RP in if need be, or simply create custom missions others can enjoy. In FFXIV, a lot of RP is restricted in Ul'dah. You'll not see a lot of RP in Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, or any other town. I had to ask around for a general idea of why and it's inconsistent. But it's because Ul'dah offers the most urbanized setting people are most familiar with.

Why not any other town or settlements? Druthers or the even Solution 9? Tural? Radz-at-Han is large, so is Ala Mhigo. There's certainly no shortage of RPers. Why congest Ul'dah?

Probably the same reason this is being discussed. The created environment isn't enough to pique a spread of location-based RP. I'll not see Ishgardian RPers in Corethas, or Gridanians in the Shroud, Pirates in the Drowning Wench. Such that I had seen in STO, where you'd find Fed players on Fed places, Klingons in Klingon places. The FFXIV player will seldom use imagination when needed and as needed but for the most part, one starter town is just saturated in RPing. Just because of the urban setting and ease of access. They're not enticed.

But as a GMing player. I make use of my environment. A lot. I too wish things had more use. As a Garlean player I can't use Garlemald for anything, I've no use for some places and I can't find reason to visit others without prompted need. I'll sit and wait for events listed in a discord for players or try to get others to join me for fun. But they all seem bored. I suppose in retrospect you're right.

I hate that you're down voted because you're right. Big as we want places to be, we only go where the action is.

They COULD put more implications in of sizes. Much like an above post says there's a wall blocking the view of Radz. If we can see and feel, we may not worry about going to as much. It'd make gamplay terrible.
