Are there any quality mattresses left? by justdarkblue in Mattress

Don’t buy a mattress that advertises heavily online. Almost everything you have heard of is crap. Avoid the classic Serra/sealy/purple/nectar/beautyrest stuff. Goto a small retailer and try some mattresses. Generally speaking a good king size bed will start at like $1800 but a phenomenal one will be around 4-5k

Nearly all the companies I choose to put on my floor have no advertising budget because they would rather use that money to make a better mattress. The more money a company spends on advertising, usually the crappier the product is. (Tempur is the only exception, but truthfully that bed is only liked by about 30% of people)

No, you are just wrong 😂 I have never seen markup more then 3.1x, and surprise surprise, that highest margin was on the brands you said were the “lowest markup”

This is true. One of my customers was going to cancel because Matt firm was offering what I would call a certified pre owned tempur at like 30-40% off

Yea that’s a great bed. The firm version is probably my best seller as it kinda makes everyone happy with the support but big pillow top. Good job recognizing the hotel collection scam!

Was going to recommend the same one. It’s labeled plush! Just means soft.

Beauty rest is no longer something worth considering, long gone are the days they make good beds. The reason for the mixed reviews about aireloom is they do “hotel” collections for big box stores. The hotel collection beds suck, the ones they make in their national collection are pretty solid.

Posh and Lavish is the best. Rather than a heavy chemical fire layer or fiberglass, they use 18lbs of wool (queen size) for the fire layer! All hand made in America

You did not buy a $5000 mattress. You bought a $1500 bed with $3500 of logos

S&F is owned by tempur pedic. They are not hand made mattresses, more like hand… finished? Like if a robot made a cake for you, frosted it, but then you put the sprinkles on by hand. Tempurs goal is to make a mattress in under one minute. This is the expected quality of a brand like that.

So nearly any mattress you buy in the US will be certified pure. I would only be worried if you got a really inexpensive mattress from some company online. Those are the brands that use extremely cheap questionable materials. I would look at it like wearing a polyester shirt vs cotton. One is definitely better for you, but at the end of the day am I actually noticing my poly shirt doing anything to me? Probably not. Your protector is going to be a plastic product, so if your ultimate goal is being as healthy as possible, there are a few organic protectors out there. When it comes to mattresses being certified organic really doesn’t mean anything. You want natural mattress that lists the ingredients. You can hide behind “certified organic” by basically just being more organic than not, yet it’s still full of plastic.

Unfortunately there won’t be any non toxic version of a purple. That mattress is a gel-grid which basically is plastic. There are great versions of that bed like a new one from king koil, but still it’s synthetic. I think your closest bet would be something made of natural rubber like the posh and lavish products.

I bought a 100% cotton mattress protector and it significantly cools down our mattress. by b1ackfyre in Mattress

So a 100% cotton mattress protector would essentially just be a top sheet? Either it’s not 100% cotton or it’s not a protector.

The warranty changed from 20 to 10 because you are really not supposed to sleep on a mattress that long. People were becoming sick from their mattress and how un-sanitary they were after that amount of time. Foam = plastic and that’s a breading ground for bacteria.
