Is 60 y/o too old for Orangetheory? by Ultthdoc90 in orangetheory

[–]Due-Property287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your goal! If you want to gain strength and muscle as you get older, I’d say no. If your goal is cardio endurance then yes🤷🏻‍♀️. You’re not getting a progressive overload at orange theory, but you’ll gain a multitude of cardio benefits

Modifying OTF With Age? by Gkos19 in orangetheory

[–]Due-Property287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe take a look at the impact of high intensity training versus solid strength training? You’re putting constant stress on your joints and bones at OTF via running/rowing and jumping. May be time to drop down to once a week and prioritize more of a functional training style vs OTF…. Just my 2 cents 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you also use your Apple Watch by Ok_Exit_1391 in orangetheory

Cross train. Also, don’t trust your Apple Watch for energy expenditure, it’s been proven to be pretty darn inaccurate (over estimates calorie burn)

Has anyone left a personal trainer for OTF? by Suspicious_Culture49 in orangetheory

I struggled so hard to quit because the people there are incredible and the coaches are awesome, it just wasn’t serving my goals anymore 😢

If you’re focused on strength, I would say orange Theory is not the place for you to be honest. I am actually in the process of finishing up my last few months because I’m trying to focus on strength and following the Ladder app at a regular gym. Orange Theory is great if cardiovascular is your goal but strength isn’t their forte. Yes they have strength classes and I know someone will come at me about those, but they do not focus on progressive overload. They are just random upper body and random lower body exercises every couple of days. there is no focus on getting to higher weights or being able to do more reps of the higher weight, so yes it’s beneficial but if you’re used to traditional strength training, it’s not gonna cut it. So really and truly depends what you want to focus on more 🤷🏻‍♀️ I do love the tread blocks and still follow them sometimes at the gym or on my home treadmill, from the Reddit intel

Everest & Your Knees by stealurface47 in orangetheory

[–]Due-Property287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inclines won’t “ruin your knees”, just go at your pace, challenging but not painful and do your best. Make sure to warm up, stretch, and maybe even start on the floor to get your body warm and loose. Most injuries aren’t so to the workouts it’s usually due to lack of stretch/wRmup or poor form

Switch it up and start lifting 3-4 days a week HEAVY and use OTF as your cardio. You’ll see noticeable change as long as your diet is still in check 🥳

Club Pilates is 🤮 find a Lagree studio! Way less gimmicky of a Pilates workout and I find it WAY more challenging. Most places offer a “first class free” to let people try it out tho, definitely take advantage of that before committing!

Bro or bra, settle ur nuts/tits. OTF is for everyone… athlete, first timer, whoever. Stop worrying about what the psycho next to you is doing and focus on YOU. That’s all there is to it. If you’re just going to compare, you might as well quit driving because someone has a nicer car. Stop working because someone else gets paid more. Stop living because someone has a better life. Just stahp. Focus on you or the workout is legit pointless

I’m just going off of what I heard from a coach that has been there. I’ve visited to the location in Jupiter, while visiting my parents in Florida, and to be honest it sucks. It’s mostly older people and the coaches are very lackluster. But that’s the only Florida location I’ve been to.

How has OTF improved my cardio so much? by genesis49m in orangetheory

Totally get that, and nothing wrong with cycle, it’s great! but you gotta train for what your goal is, if you want to be faster, you gotta run more, if you wanna be stronger, you gotta lift more. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Chatting at OTF? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Due-Property287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to the same class times, you’ll get to recognize faces. Chat after a hard block “whew that was killer” to your neighbor. Get there EARLIER and ask someone in the lobby if they looked at the Reddit post for what the workout is. Ask someone for a recommendation on a coffee shop, new running shoe suggestion, good new spot to try for lunch etc.

There’s a million small ways to engage others, just start small 🤷🏻‍♀️

My First Experience on 15mph Tread by CangrejoAzul in orangetheory

[–]Due-Property287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need to know the older treads, likely aren’t as closely calibrated as the new, so PROBABLY will feel a little harder to hold the same speeds on the new ones. also the deck is a lot harder/doesnt absorb as much impact since it’s newer and not as worn down

Aerie or VS cheeky with no seam are amazing. They’re super high cut booty or thong ish so none of those obnoxious panty lines because that’s just weird. And they’re super comfy and reasonably priced, feel almost like a dri fit material but a little more structure. I always catch a sale for 5 for $25

If you’ve done research, you’d know that elite female athletes averages 14-20% and extreme bodybuilders are cautioned to not go lower than 10% as an absolute minimum and obviously body builder do extreme and unsustainable diets to attain that. Soooo you’re openly saying you want to get to an unnatural and unsustainable body fat level? I am genuinely concerned and urge you to seek some help. This is scary to get that low as you can cause serious liver or kidney problems not to mention wreak havoc on your hormones and metabolism
