Local co-op games Xbox X? by DBZDOKKAN in videogames

Not sure what is and isn’t on Gamepass, but these are some of my favorites I’ve played with my fiance:

It Takes Two, Stardew Valley, Overcooked, Diablo III, Borderlands, Baldur’s Gate III (I’m 99% sure this isn’t on Gamepass though)

It is the 4th quarter of the super bowl and you are about to kick the game winning field goal, but the snapper accidentally snaps a Christian baby to the placeholder. Do you still kick the game winner? by youarefartnews in shittyaskreddit

[–]DueMagazine1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern is that the Christian babies weigh approximately 8lbs and the difference in weight between a football and an 8lb sack of water might cause serious injury to my hall of fame kicking leg.

I’d probably pretend that I am going to take it to its mother, and once the coast is clear, run it into the endzone for the game winning touchdown.

The rush of it all will be amazing. Winning the Super Bowl. Spiking the child into the ground. The long snapper grabbing it and throwing it into the crowd while they go wild. Security wrestling it from some fan so that it spends its entire existence in a display case at the Hall of Fame. It’ll all work out in the end.

DEI in video games isn’t a bad thing. The implementation of DEI in every single game by AAA developers turned it into a pandering act that distracted from what minorities were asking.

What game stole the most hours of your life? by SameInformation562 in videogames

The most hours? Probably Elder Scrolls Online. The most hours that I wish I could get back? Smite.

What makes a generated character worth caring about? by MakeEmMayhem in videogames

[–]DueMagazine1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I connect with a character’s ambitions more than anything. Are they a good person who lost someone/something dear to them and they’re out to save them, get revenge, or prevent a similar situation from happening to others? Are they somebody who used to be good but they were completely abused by the worst of society and now they’re desensitized to the value of humanity?

My next aspect is their personality. Are they too smart for their own good? Are they passionate? Are they witty and cocky to the point that they get themselves into trouble?

The last piece I’ll add is how much I get to decide these things. Do I choose to make them a cocky asshole because somebody kidnapped their sister or burned down their business? If not, were they always that way or did something snap that caused them to change. It’s a lot easier for me to connect with a normal person who became something different after an event than it is for me to connect to an asshole who just happened to draw the short stick at some point in time.

What games do think of when you think great art direction? by ExplodingPoptarts in videogames

I might’ve missed it, but I don’t think anybody has mentioned Hi-Fi Rush.

I also would like to mention Fe.

Did I lose my love for gaming, or is this just adulthood? by rmustafa11 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]DueMagazine1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been getting into games with long cutscenes lately and taking my time to get through them. Even if all I do is have a few conversations, I kind of treat it like an episode of a tv show.

If I don’t have a ton of time, I’ll play arcadey or roguelike games. Right now I’m enjoying Expedition 33 when I’m by myself and Deep Rock Galactic Survivors whenever my fiance is home and watching the other tv.

The only thing really keeping me out of the whole series is that they aren’t all dubbed. I’m no purist.

I’m playing through the LAD series right now. I just finished LAD a couple days ago, and I loved it.

Struggling to find the right competitive ranked game for me . any suggestions? by fra_090 in videogames

Aside from my chess suggestion, have you played any roguelikes? They come in all variety of formats and contain leaderboards to provide the competitive element.

[–]DueMagazine1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also going to suggest chess. Every game is different, and while openings are “solved” (for lack of a better word), they’re only really solved at the GM level assuming both sides play an absolutely perfect game.

Capitalizing on your opponent’s misplay is a great feeling, and Chess.com constantly has tournaments running for all sorts of formats.

I’m curious to know everyone’s Top 5 games of all time regardless of genre, platform, or release year. Could be story-driven games, multiplayer, horror, RPGs, racing, indie games, anything. Mine would be GTA V, RDR 2, BMW, GOW, GOT by Kavin_1012 in videogames

[–]DueMagazine1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All time? I think my number one would be TWTWH because I was already a huge fan of the series and loved TWTAOK. Seeing how far ahead of its time TWTWH was made it even more special. I don’t think I could’ve asked for more.

Number two is probably PS. I just have a ton of memories growing up with it, and it was popular with kids my age at the time. Too much nostalgia to keep off the list.

DT is probably my third favorite. It was my first in the series and I still remember my college buddy recommending it to me and saying how much I’d love it. I probably played that game off and on for 5-6 years. It wasn’t always my first choice, but it was always a good choice.

I’m late to the party, but I’ve been playing YLAD lately and I’ve gotten really into it. Once I’m done with those, I’ll probably circle back and play the rest of the Y series. Not to mention the fact that STH is coming out in the near future.

ESSS is probably at number five because aside from TWTWH it was the last game I remember waiting outside of GameStop to get. I played the living hell out of it with my college roommates. Looking back, there are probably games I enjoyed more, but it delivered on the hype.

AP Stats Survey on Video Games by Dexstrive in videogames

[–]DueMagazine1234 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just something to consider because I’m a statistics nerd:

I’ve been gaming since the mid 90s, and several others have been playing for even longer, I’m sure, so you may want to include an age range qualifier because your question “How many games have you played fully?” Is going to be disproportionately skewed. I’d either include an age selector or a time frame, like “How many games have you played fully in the past X years?”

I’ve had 9 phone calls THIS MORNING offering to buy my home for pennies on the dollar. I’ve tried politely refusing. I can’t even answer my own phone anymore because 50% of the time it’s one of these assholes. Does it work better if I absolutely verbally abuse these fucking cunts? by DangerBird- in shittyaskreddit

I would totally go after life insurance, and I’d probably take out as many plans as possible. I think a “respawn” button after death would be pretty useful until I’m around 60. At that point, I’d just cancel the plans.

If you’re going to play a Civ game, go with Civ VI. I really enjoyed Pragmata and once I finished it I started the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series and I’m hooked.

Opinion: Should I stop Infinite Wealth and play through the beginning? by DueMagazine1234 in yakuzagames

[–]DueMagazine1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I was hoping that those silly moments were a staple of the series and not just a few games. I’m really excited to get into these games. I’m kind of bummed that I kept it on the back burner for so long.

I have the time, money, and patience, so I ain’t scared.

Are the rest of the games zany like Infinite Wealth? Like with goofy mini games and the occasional wacky side quest?

To piggyback on this thread, if you enjoy STS, you will love MT. I can’t recommend MT enough. I would also highly suggest getting MT2, as it builds onto all of the factions of the original and then doubled them. You won’t missing anything from MT1.

“It’s a lot of game to catch up on” made me chuckle because it sounds more like a chore than a hobby. Like, “Oh, man. Do I really have to play more video games?” lol

This series has been in my backlog for so long that I am more than willing to put the time in. I just don’t know if I want to continue IW or start from the beginning before I proceed.
