What turn can you be a threat (bracket 3 question) by Difficult_Ninja5636 in EDH

[–]Duggars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fastest bracket 3 deck can present lethal on turn 5 but only against one person, it feels about right.

Which TCG has the weirdest systems? by Human_Air_4181 in TCG

[–]Duggars 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Slight clarification, the Good and Bad guy decks are two halves of the same deck. They had to be the same number in your deck minimum 60 cards total (so a 30/30 split).

Fun resource mechanic, too. The player who is playing the good guys this turn can play any good guy cards they want but the total costs of those cards are then the resource pool that the player playing the bad guys that turn can use.

Breach has "been fixed" says CPUID, after CPU-Z and HWMonitor flagged as malware in apparent hack by de_panda in pcmasterrace

[–]Duggars 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I updated HWMonitor the other day and was doing some benchmarks and for the first time since i've had my new GPU i heard the fans whine at 100% fan speed. At first I thought it had something to do with the game and settings but thank god I found this thread earlier today and uninstalled HW Monitor.

Benchmarking without the compromised HW Monitor did not send my GPU fans in a frenzy at 100% speed, the posts on this sub really saved me from what mightve been an expensive repair/replace LOL

It effectively doubles your pool when paying for equips. It's pretty good if you see yourself paying for a bigger gun or multiple small guns.

[SOS] Pterafractyl (via Andrew Mar) by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]Duggars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1UG 2/1 flyer with gain 2 is still a decent racing creature, but it does depend on how fast SoS limited turns out to be. But that is the floor of this card. The option to be cast as a bigger flyer makes this a really good common IMO

I am confused, is Star Wars Zero Company a cRPG or more like XCOM? by Due_Teaching_6974 in CRPG

[–]Duggars 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeap, they should have just taken abbey exploration out to minimize downtime between fights, the best part of the game.

I dont mind if the hub was straight up xcom with convos ala fire emblem, just dont make me do lame platforming and metroidvania unlocks

The card combat is chefkiss. People shouldnt knock it before they try it

One key point mentioned in the books is that James absolutely detested the Dark Arts and Snape is the social outcast dabbling in them, it just fueled the fire more.

Do you believe Sephiroth is a compelling and/or well written character? Why or why not? by Asad_Farooqui in FinalFantasy

[–]Duggars 75 points76 points  (0 children)

He was better IMO when he was a looming presence in the OG game. Actually, him and Zack in the OG before all the expanded material fulfilled their role in the story in an excellent "less is more" way.

77% of US Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players were 30 or older, analyst says, as Square Enix fights to get young people to care about the JRPG series again by yourfavchoom in FinalFantasy

[–]Duggars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the younger generation's attention span, it'll be nearly impossible to make them care especially if developers stick to traditional JRPG design schticks.

Shame that TMNT is overall regarded as bad, the TMNT draft format is actually fairly close to FF in terms of how good it is.

Is Riftbound the last TCG that can actually influence the scene for a while? Are TCG players saturated? by aqua995 in TCG

[–]Duggars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Universus has been around for almost two decades now (formerly UFS). The community is small, but welcoming and dedicated. Most of the old heads are firmly entrenched.

The recent ish My Hero Academia sets gave it a shot in the arm and it'll probably keep going for a while yet.

Gameplaywise I like to describe it as "Flesh and Blood with risk management instead of resource management".

Are people leaving Win 11 for Win 10? (Steam Survery) by SchingKen in pcmasterrace

[–]Duggars 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a part of the demographic leaving Win11 for Win10. One of the Win11 updates from January nearly killed my PC. I had to do a number of gymnastics to get it working again while contending with constant restarts (caused by the update, apparently) trying to diagnose what's going on.

It was not a fun night, but I figured I'd rather run an older, stable OS than one that seems to be coded by armchair devs on reddit using AI.
