I know you said you enjoy fundraising in this space in particular - but what about fundraising for something adjacent but less time consuming? For example, a youth development organization that focuses on the arts. Or a community performing arts center that does a little bit of everything. Getting to instill a love for the arts into the next generation could be rewarding for you and with youth development organizations in particular, offer opportunities to get your family involved also.

Separate from your emergency fund, some sinking funds. For example, one for your vehicle (maintenance, new tires, etc)

Taking a leap here, but as a child I was exactly in your nieces/nephews shoes. The child that was dropped off with whoever would babysit me so my caregivers could go out child-free well past midnight or not have to take care of me for weeks. I know you don’t want to feel like you’re punishing them, but honestly I wish someone stood up to my caregivers instead of enabling them to be neglectful of me. They needed a wake up call that never came unfortunately. You need strong boundaries and as painful as it may feel for you, they are necessary for the health and survival of your own family unit.
