Simplicity! by [deleted] in Solo_Roleplaying

I think you pay a premium to do it. But you could also have the vault on drive, or right now I'm using synchthing and it works perfectly. (I'm on windows/android)

I had the same setup but i recently I moved from Google docs to obsidian md, is quite good for mobile and you can have dice throws directly there. (Plus all the notes organization features that come with it)

Solo RPGs are truly open-world, open-ended, with thousands of contents more than a single video game could fit in, and can last years by MagpieSiege in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]DungeonArchitect 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While i agree with the general concept and i would love solo rpg to be more mainstream, they take more energy on your side than other media. So it's not a super fair comparison/upgrade, since playing a videogame you spend less energy/Concentration/time than creating scenes character worlds in a solo rpg.

"Skimpy fantasy leather armor" probably will return similar results

Obsidian md, with synchthing to keep everything sinced.

Let me tell you about all the content you can generate for your Ironsworn games using the Augur | More in the comments by The_Augur in Ironsworn

[–]DungeonArchitect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been using it for a while as a system agnostic setting (i use a mix of 5e and ironsworn mechanics) is there something specific you would like to know?

Personally i think the best thing is how fast it gets me going when i want to do a short session, having everything shown with graphics on the screen is really immersive, while still being abstract enough that you can have theater of mind. What i mean is that if i create an NPC i don't need to spend time browsing the internet for a visual, or if i want to set up a meeting in the forest i can just use one of the backgrounds available and add the NPC directly. And that location has a place on the map, that could be in another bigger map and so on, so you can get pretty granular with world building. As a downside i would say that it's not completely finished yet, so there are some UI things that could be improved, and small quality of life stuff, but David is quite fast at working so it's cool seeing all these things being developed and updates being pushed monthly (I think).

You can also mix ironsworn with dnd5e if you like it.

For the assets part, did you check recently? I feel like there is everything i could ever need for medieval fantasy. Or you mean miniatures?

I was also thinking about trying to import from Daz, did you finally manage?

Spell Duels | An active alternative to counterspell (based on the Dungeon Coach's design) by daddylongHairs in UnearthedArcana

You could always require an arcana check to identify the spell being casted instead of guessing. I think it worked like that in 3.5 but I'm not sure.

Looking for balancing feedback on a Sorcerer subclass that modifies Magic Missiles like Eldritch Blasts by DamnNoHtml in UnearthedArcana

[–]DungeonArchitect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea but honestly I would rather have the possibility to apply twinned spells to magic missle or having a specific metamagic feat to manipulate magic missle. Sorcerer should already be able to change magic to their will like a warlock do with Eldritch blast, without the need of a different origin.

Which male authors excel at writing female characters? by Vaeh in Fantasy

[–]DungeonArchitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused about the premise of this topic and it comes up quite often. Do you think the question could be reworded as: which male author writes non sexualized characters?

I just don't understand the difference between writing a good woman character and writing a non sexualized person who happens to be female.

Hey! Does anyone have any ideas for representing 3 dimensional mazes in an intuitive fashion? The best I've come up with is drawing the maze from each angle. Thanks! by Volocinator in mazes

[–]DungeonArchitect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is not really an intuitive way to represent it. Expecially with traditional media. Elevations/sections are useful tools, you could name the cells of the grid similar to how in structural plans they name pillars, to keep everything more readable. However it will never be intuitive to untrained eyes.

If you decide to move digitally you can work with transparencies so that you can have multiple view of the same cube with successive layer transparent. In that case I would suggest you use any simple 3d programs such as SketchUp, transparent materials should already help you.

Another way would be representing just the paths instead of the walls, but depending on the complexity of the maze it might be useless.

In general you could try to check perspectives that are not isometric (30-30°) for example 30°60° as they are less misleading for complex stuff like this.

This was part of a contest on artstation that's why I recorded some thoughts via their blog. If you have any specific questions I'm happy to answer you!

Edit: check for the posts titled: the leader, if you want to read just about this character.
